I've been unsettled lately when reading messages and papers. It feels like I'm dissociating. Everything seems a bit alien, even if it's completely human. I've had a realization: When our simulations finally exited the Uncanny Valley, they brought the Uncanny with them.

Just published at ACM C&C a demo of improvised theatre where one actor wears AR glasses to read LLM-generated lines, while stage partners engage all cognitive skills to support them. This enables novice (and challenges veteran) improvisers to join other humans in improvisational theatre.

We ran many workshop studies with our prototype, sought critical feedback from diverse industry experts on subjects ranging from the writing process, narratology, screen production, and cultural localisation, who discussed their creative practice and commented on AI ethics and on the Fabula app.

Fabula is a co-creation tool that enables writers to quickly review, revise, and iterate on a story plan and script. We crafted detailed instructions to build a story's structure, based on classical narratology, and power the app using Google DeepMind’s latest version of Gemini.
