Oh man, yeah. And we're not even talking about just "I have to make my own art supplies," but also "what is art and why do we make it?" Fascinating stuff.

Oh man fire is such a powerful successional force! Even wilder to think about the plants that rely on them!

/6 Totally misspoke in this video. By "a lot of visible life" I mean "ALL visible life". At 2.4 ba Earth was still pretty much anaerobic, and the power struggle between those anaerobic lifeforms and oxygen producing cyanobacteria was just kind of starting. Also I'm sorry, it was very sunny.

/2 *SUPER misremembered the age of the super old rock, but remembered in later videos

I went on a little day trip yesterday: a video thread! /1

Definitely another of my favorites. I have a type 😂

There are 46 babirusa in zoos across the U.S. and I would really like to see them.

This is the babirusa, aka pig-deer! They're straight out of the Pleistocene, and extremely endangered. I adore them. I drew this one's legs a little too long I think, but I love his face.

Wira and Wanja, Malayan sun bears, are tourism mascots for Malaysia.

A pair of black sun bear mascots stand in front of a sign that says “Malaysia”.

Nooooo ants are my favorite 😭

Me: Oh, I should look into public lands in my county and go bone collecting, where it's legal! I guess I should check and see if deer season has started. GOOD THING because apparently it started two weeks ago lmao and I own zero hunter orange articles of clothing.

"Hello, do you want to hang out and watch horror movies with me sometime?" alternative chaotic version: "Heyyy biiiiiitch wanna watch scary movies?"

A male Orchelimum katydid regaling us with some nice tunes. Katydids have structures called scrapers and files on the edges of their wings that produce sound when rubbed together. Crickets do the same, but this is different from the way that grasshoppers stridulate (rubbing a leg against the wing).

Chinese mantis depositing her ootheca. A gravid adult was a very lucky find for me! Hoping some little mantis nymphs will help clear up the fungus gnat sitch in my vivarium.

Someday I'd like to try out a vr hangout space. It especially sounds like a fun thing to do in the winter, when I'm less inclined to be outside for very long. I'd love to have an avatar of Cocoa for that.

Got a bit of paint down last night. Aiming to plug away at it every night this week so I'm done by the weekend!

"I Saw a Bird: Blue Jay" Approx. 7" across, scrap circular saw blade, copper, spray paint, and paint pen. Sold. Very pleased with this scruffy lad— it was snagged by a Patron before it even got to come to con! Stay tuned for more birds, though. ♥️ Suggestions for other saw birds always welcome.

Cut from a circular saw blade and painted like a blue jay

I'm intimidated by the water! There is a very particular look I'm trying to achieve with it, and it's going to be an experiment. I'm looking forward to the challenge, at least. But fuck yeah physical art!

Underpainting is juuuust about done! Hoping to get the base layers of paint down by the end of the day, and then pick at the details throughout this week.

That's incredible! I was wondering what you were going to do with the saw blades and bird species names. The post was very cryptic!
