did i just put PinkSea-tan in my engineering diploma thesis? yeah

My first time properly contributing to an open source project wooo!! PinkSea is an oekaki board that you log into with your Bluesky/AtProto account. You post the drawings you made and people can reply to it with more drawings! Go have a look on pinksea.art and have fun 😊

hi! there was an issue with the regex used for parsing at-uris in the frontend, where it considered the hyphen in your domain name as an invalid character. it's fixed now, sorry for the trouble! 🙇

hi hi! the newest PinkSea update is here!!! there's a lot that's changed, but let's begin with the most important! as has been teased for weeks now, customizable profiles are here! you can now set a nickname, bio and an avatar you've drawn right inside of PinkSea! how cool is that?

i was waiting until someone would spot the new lexicon on UFOs :D also while you can theoretically put anything, the appview validates that it belongs to you, i think it makes it the more fun when you have to draw your avatar!

130

PinkSea @pinksea.art · 07/07/2025

that's been on my mind and will most definitely land in this update as well :) i've kind of neglected PinkSea in some technical regards, and now i'm finally cleaning up all the cruft

010

PinkSea @pinksea.art · 07/07/2025

should the avatar and nickname also be visible in the post link? or should i leave it be just the handle like before and only have the profile nicetiest in the profile page? i need all of your opinions

the rate of updates will increase as i have more time to finally dedicate to my projects! i have stuff planned, so don't worry! alongside the search, i've finally improved how we handle profiles, hiding ones that are gone from their repos. some translation fixes also have made it into the update!

PinkSea @pinksea.art · 27/06/2025

long time no see, huh? with university out of my way for the next 3 months, i've finished the update that i've been working on a couple of months ago :) we finally have a simple, but much more complete search system! it's going to be extended in the future, but the days of finding tags are gone!

i am once again asking for help with PinkSea in the same vein as the "Post is gone" image, if any of you would want to contribute your art to PinkSea (with due credit, attribution, etc), I'd love a cute artwork to put up for when an account doesn't exist, is banned, etc.

thank you so much to @innerspiral.lol for mentioning us in her latest blogpost!!!! (which is really good btw you should absolutely read it)

One service on top of the service I use the most (Bluesky) is PinkSea. And everyone, PinkSea honestly feels like magic. It’s this little pocket of the internet that actually gets this shit, it’s not about chasing clout or grinding for views, it’s just pure creation for the sake of it. PinkSea is basically this beautiful little online oekaki board built on top of the AT Protocol, and it feels like a time machine in the best damned way. You log in with your Bluesky account (or anything that's on the AT Protocol), and instead of uploading some art you've already made, you have to draw it right there, in the moment, using a built-in simple canvas. Just pure, in-browser drawing like the old internet used to have. But what makes PinkSea special isn’t just the tech, but also it’s energy. It brings back that raw, fleeting feeling of creating something just because you wanted to, and not because you needed likes or attention. Every piece feels a handcrafted, and a little vulnerable, and it is! And that’s what makes it so fucking real. It’s so rare to find a space like that now, where you’re not performing, but you’re just making. PinkSea feels less like a little hub, and more like a tiny, little world where art still belongs to the artist.
