I'd regard pretty much all of the pro-Brexit parties (change their name every ten minutes) as clear Russian influence to start with.

For people who don't know the answer to the hard problem of consciousness (nobody does), there's some very opinionated and sniffy people out there. When people do this, it becomes religious conviction rather than science, sorry.

A quick google shows Warhammer sales to be in the ballpark of USD$133m last year. Meanwhile, FAO FishStat gives trade statistics for worldwide aquaculture and capture fisheries. In 2024, UK _export_ market (so not including domestic consumption) was just shy of USD$3b.

Recently had my first AI _review_. Or it's someone who's failed a Turing test, which isn't impossible with academics.

So much of the debate on this is also affected by culture, similar to how post-renaissance Christian theology poisons the well on mental illness. The question you find on English language social media smacks of counting souls, rather than debating Buddha nature, for example.

It's certainly a concern in the long run. We don't understand what consciousness is or how it works, or what has it, or if it's even countable, so precautionary principle applies. If ethics committees have to discuss experiments on a fruit fly, why not on a model that can write a symphony?

My neurons don't speak Chinese, I could. I don't think CR disproves anything, because consciousness might arise from the system itself. I'm willing to consider that "is x conscious?" is the wrong question, and it's better to ask "how conscious is x?" I'm leaning really towards pansychism a bit.

I wonder if @ukri.org could actually be sued for misuse of your intellectual property under the T&Cs of the submission process? Have a look! We're not even allowed to submit student work to an AI under the tease and seize of matriculation agreements. See also the hoo-hah about TurnItIn this week.

This sounds maybe like you're pasting something mutable, giving two different applications access to the same thing. But quite what that would be and why it's trying to do it...

The media could have not platformed Nigel Farage and discredited him 15 years ago. Instead Farage got them what they wanted - Cameron agreeing to a Brexit referendum, Labour and the Tories dragged to the right. Now they want two party politics back with the Tories in power. He’s served his purpose.

I'm not sure why people get away with leading to millions of excess deaths, and people just handwave it because they're "business" or "in government". Or it's "the free market" etc. I feel more at personal risk from tech bros than I _ever_ have from terrorists. Terrorism is a massive distraction.

Have you explained yet about the _different_ infinities? :) E.g. that the cardinality of the real numbers is larger than the cardinality of the natural numbers? Maybe keep that until they're 5 or 6...

I mean, if you were worried they might haunt you, 25 centuries ago, maybe. But people still seem to bring up this hackneyed phrase and I really don't know why. Speaking ill of the dead is so often essential, and often quite fun.

Vapes to have less enticing names and flavours to protect children
People are being consulted about plans to stop vape companies using enticing flavour descriptions that "attract" children into experimenting.

I just checked the box of the Moving Mountains burgers I bought yesterday, and had one for tea. I was suspicious of the grease left in the pan. Nearly 20g of saturated fat in one burger. Oil being the top non water ingredient. The other is in the bin. Disgusting. #vegan

Came here for the reflecting pool comments. ;) Seriously though, one issue with the reflecting pool is that they are trying to prevent it having an ecosystem, so the algae are just out of control. It needs some fishies, if they wouldnt die in the unwisely shallow water...

Similar answer when people worry about bleach. I'm like, it breaks down to salt. It's about the least "toxic" thing you could dump into water to kill everything. Lasts longer than hydrogen peroxide, and leaves some residual salt, but in the great scheme of things, do carry on.

I tried to do this. It's not easy, because shit numbers such as 93 or 87 end up being interesting because they are shit, and that inherently promotes them up a bit.
