#OC_Tober2026 Day 5: Chibi I wasn't sure what to draw chibis of so I just chose my main project's protagonists in their idol outfits from later in the story. (the designs are a work in progress!)

Two chibis. One is a young girl with pink hair and pink eyes, wearing a black and pink dress with a ruffled top, asymmetrical black arm warmers and socks and pink shoes. The other is a man with purple hair and blue eyes, wearing an asymetrical purple and black button-up top, baggy black pants and black boots.

I think this article is what has prompted a bunch of people to reshare this post I made a year ago bsky.app/profile/aipt...

Thanks so much for sharing! I hope that the list still sparked inspiration for you for down the road! 😄

I'm the same way. The hidden comics tend to have way more soul than the professional IPs I've read. 😁

Also, I'll throw in my personal prediction that might seem out of pocket: I think Webtoon will be gone (or massively different) by 2030... especially if they continue operating at a loss and implementing AI tools.

Pilot-Obvious ✈️ webcomics, ocs, and digital art @pilotobvious.bsky.social · 13h

I've seen a lot of indie creators go back to building their own sites to host their webcomics. If that's not something you can afford at the moment, a lot of people recommend ComicFury as an alternative. Please share whatever recommendations you have for creators! We gotta help each other somehow.

120

Pilot-Obvious ✈️ webcomics, ocs, and digital art @pilotobvious.bsky.social · 13h

Back to indie creators, I understand that there's a certain level of accessibility on platforms like WT that appeal to new creators plus a 'built in' audience, but I don't think we should be relying on them to host our projects. (and shoutout to the creators who have said that from the beginning)

110

Pilot-Obvious ✈️ webcomics, ocs, and digital art @pilotobvious.bsky.social · 13h

Funny enough, I looked at some of the IP they listed in my original post, and you'd be surprised at how poorly many of those comics are performing on WT. 👀 I wonder how much they paid for the rights to put those comics on WT.

120

Pilot-Obvious ✈️ webcomics, ocs, and digital art @pilotobvious.bsky.social · 13h

Large corporations don't care about indie creators, they care about what makes them the most money. Unfortunately, that means that 99% of indie creators will be thrown to the way side. (Of course, what they're doing doesn't seem to be working anyway as WT is still operating at a huge loss. 🙈)

Pilot-Obvious ✈️ webcomics, ocs, and digital art @pilotobvious.bsky.social · 13h

This post from over a year ago is making the rounds again for some reason. Given the Tapas shutdown, a lot of people are wondering what indie creators should do to host their comics. I don't think Webtoon Canvas has been the answer for a long time.

#OC_TOBER2026 Day 2: Lunch Date These two Californian dipshits' idea of a "lunch date" is getting In n Out and then going back home to eat it LOL I couldn't figure out how to not make it look overcast so welp. overcast lunch date in the neighborhood

Two men leaning against a railing in a suburb with fast food cups. One is blonde with blue eyes and wear a blue tanktop, the other is brunette with brown eyes and wears a grey/white/red t-shirt.

Day 3: Outfit Swap - Rory absolutely hates wearing tight fitting clothing and also hates wearing red, so he does not care for this outfit swap one bit. Egg doesn't mind wearing Rorys jacket at all, it's comfy. 💞 (Prompt from @pilotobvious.bsky.social )

Rory crossed armed and grumpy
Egg stoic as usual but a little heart above his head.

if you love me, show me your obsession the "strange" feeling turns into an unbearable longing we can go as far as we want 🐝 #art #oc #illustration

digital illustration inspired by the official artwork for the Vocaloid song Magnet. Yellow Jacket and Maddie Cinder from my webcomic Future Agents are locked in a passionate gaze while Yellow Jacket has a caution symbol illuminated on its helmet. Maddie looks exhausted as her eye is illuminated by the HUDset display. The blurry nighttime skyline of Chicago is in the background.

I wanted to represent how addicting the technology of the HUDset can be, and how manipulative Yellow Jacket is. 🐝

If you want to see indie projects succeed, you have to spearhead the support for them. Talk openly about other people’s work and how much you like it, draw fanart, reshare content about the project, send it to a friend, leave comments on every update, donate money, etc.
