This idea of craft can be increasingly important as AI replaces much of human labor. As a tailor friend put it: it's the difference between a hand painted Mona Lisa and a computer copy. Even if others can't tell the difference, some people may value the handmade version bc it represents human skill.

High tariffs will not bring back US garment manufacturing, certainly not without the other policies in place. If you tariff Japanese and South Korean goods, you will either get: — Higher priced goods — Production shifting elsewhere, possibly at a loss of quality and value

I've long championed US manufacturing, esp for apparel and shoes. However, I believe this needs to come from US government support for the industry — building tailoring schools, subsidizing factories, cracking down on false MiUSA labeling, etc. It can't be from tariffs.

Outfits I've enjoyed at Wimbledon. The photo of Kumar Sangakkara is not the greatest, but it's very hard to make a single-breasted peak lapel jacket look right. This one looks great. Very nice placement of the gorge and buttoning point, as well as just enough belly on the lapel.
