“I’ve never been happy about having been born in the midwest. I wonder how Midwest I sound…” May I present: “Rejected at Birth: The Map”
A map with the strongest dialect matches along both coastlines and Hawaii. The middle of the country is a much weaker match, with a slightly increased patch over Indiana/Illinois.

Focused in the foreground is a small bag of popcorn. Blurred behind it is the torso and arm of a man at a checkout, purchasing a new p-trap, with the old trap on the counter.

Today, July 14th, I double-checked my knowledge of this year’s Mercury Retrograde events. Turns out AI and Mercury Retrograde have teamed up for a brand collab (I wasn’t asking AI, I was just using my work browser whose settings I cannot change to make AI search go away)
Screenshot of an AI summary saying that Mercury is not in retrograde, and explains that Mercury Retrograde occurs June 29, 2026 to July 23, 2026. The query and screenshot occurred on July 14, 2026.

Accurate.
A x/y chart. The Y-axis is labeled as Good to Bad, with Good at the top. The X-axis is labeled as Overhyped to Transfornative, with Overhyped on the left. The respondent's data point resides near the bottom of the Y-axis, just a little to the left on the X-axis. The description of this section reads:

"YOU ARE...

Marketing! A Tale of Two Netflix Profiles
Marketing the movie "In the hand of Dante" to one profile, Netflix has chosen an image of Gal Gadot and Oscar Isaac, romantically embracing each other on a beach, in period clothing. The lighting is soft. The text describing
the movie as a "hypnotic drama."Marketing the movie "In the hand of Dante" to a different profile, the image is gritty black & white with Gerard Butler pointing a gun at another male figure whose identity is unknown. The lighting is harsher, with a bit of film noir aesthetic. The language used to describe the movie highlights a team-up with a "mob hitman" for an "epic heist."

Address violent crime, you say? Politicians too weak to take up policies that go against their donors, you say? A solution that is a “desperate” bid to save lives, you ask? UBI IT IS! UBI! UBI! UBI! UBI! (Thiel whispers: not like this) Paging @scottsantens.com
17. Silicon Valley must play a role in addressing violent crime.
Many politicians across the United States have essentially
shrugged when it comes to violent crime, abandoning any serious efforts to address the problem or take on any risk with their constituencies or donors
in coming up with solutions and experiments in what should be a desperate bid to save lives.

This color, more or less. Maybe a shade brighter, and UV reactive (which is entirely irrelevant to how I live my life but a girl can dream)
White background with a squiggle of color. One might call it fuschia. A saturated swatch that, at a glance, read ass pink. But the author really tries to find the sweet spot between pink, orange, and red.

idek who "comedian" Tim Dillon is. That said, this is the funniest thing he's ever done or ever will do. Congrats moron, you played yourself. www.npr.org/2025/09/27/n...
Comedian Tim Dillon said on his podcast last month that he signed up for financial reasons. He said he had been offered "a large sum of money" - $375,000 for one performance - and said that other comedians had been offered as much as $1.6 million. He told his detractors to "get over it." adding, "So what if they have slaves, they're paying me enough to look the other way."But in an episode of the Tim Dillon Podcast last week, the comedian announced he'd been removed from the lineup for the comments he made about the country's record on slavery. (NPR reached out to Saudi's
General Entertainment
Authority for verification, but has not yet heard back.) "I addressed it in a funny way and they fired me," Dillon said on his podcast. "I certainly wasn't gonna show up in your country and insult the people that are paying me the money."

What's your sign?
The road sign for Uranus Fudge Factory & Sideshow Museum. It is a colorful rocketship. Above it is a circus tent and next to that a Tyrannosaurus Rex chomping on a flying-saucer type UFO whose piloting alien looks a lot like the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Rushmore was on my 2025 bingo card (it's not a good bingo card).
2 squares of a bingo card. The top square has listed outbreaks: Monkey Pox, Polio, Plague, and Measles. Measles is checked off. The bottom square says "Trump starts trying to add his face to Rushmore" partially obscured by a small floral sticker.

Inside me there are three wolves. None of them understand fashion. Why would they? They're wolves.
My 3 favorite cardigans. One thigh-length, black with white stripes on the cuffs and hem. One low-hip-length, muted yellow with dark brown and sky blue argyle. One high-hip-length, with incredibly bright fuschia and orange stripes.

No, Mr. Martin. It is your party that fails to connect your policies to our lives. D's stumped on abortion for decades and had multiple opportunities to codify it but didn't. When your policies become actions and not just words, a "message" or a "brand," THEN the voters will connect with them.
"Mr. Martin said in an interview after his victory. "It is a messaging problem and a brand problem. Those voters are not connecting our policies with their lives."

Meet Hortensia, half-fairy half-goblin. She's socially feral. No kids wanted to play with her. Now she's a bitter old woman with a lazy eye, a crazy eye, and a chip on her shoulder. She's left a legend in her wake, and parents use threats of sending kids to "The Fairy Gobmother" when they act up.
A late-middle age goblin in dingy patchwork sweatpants and tank top with pastel fairy wings that are tattered from battle, green skin with scars all over, wonky eyes, a chipped tusk and a tusk with a gold cap, and black hair cut into a harsh bob. Her weapon is a purple maul with a star design on it. Named Hortensia, described as "half- fairy, half-goblin, all rage." Catchphrases written around her include "oh my Gob," "it's GOBBERING time," and "someone never had a visit from the Fairy Gobmother and it shows."
