More people need to realize that me calling a game "unfinished" isn't meant to be an insult. I'm playing Star Fox Adventures and keep seeing people mad at me for saying it, but no, it's just well documented how bad development went, and how much had to be rushed to release it 😭

In Pokemon Yellow version ONLY, if you repeatedly try to enter the Safari Zone without enough money, the guard will eventually let you in for free but with far less Safari Balls. This feature was added because it's possible to deplete all sources of money by this point in Gen 1.

I've been watching several Muppet movies for the first time, starting with the 1979 one, and recently finishing the 2011 movie. I'm so surprised how much I've really enjoyed these. Muppets 2011 was so incredibly good and genuinely had me tearing up at times, I was so invested.😭

YouTube essay reviews will be like "Does this Retro JRPG still hold up today? Here is the opinion I got by skipping half the dialogue and holding down speedup in every battle."

Fun fact about Pokemon Gen 1: In Fuchsia City, the Pokemon Zoo will display the Pokemon for the fossil you didn't take at Mt. Moon. But if you sequence break to this part of the game without taking a fossil, the sign just has this textbox instead:

Mega Man 1 is relevant, so shoutouts to the obscure glitch where the screen freezes after beating the final boss, and looks glitchy until you reset I've only seen this once, and it was when I was doing the Retro Achievement for a No Death playthrough. (I had to redo the run lol)

One of the most random design choices in Pokemon Gen 1, is that the champion battle is programmed to turn on battle animations, even if you previously disabled them. It is the only instance in the game, where it just changes your settings without telling you.

I really dislike how uppity people can act over how others enjoy games. No one is forced to play/watch any speedrun, challenge run, achievement hunt, glitch hunt, or competitive match. Acting like your day is ruined over the existence of these things is just weirdly dramatic.

Imagine being a programmer for the Yu-Gi-Oh! video games, and you had to program this whole mechanic, because of a random one-off card that no one ever uses.

One of my favorite mistakes in Pokemon Gen 2 is how someone 100% messed up the Dragon Fang. Despite what the game says, the item does absolutely nothing, and the intended effect was accidently given to the Dragon Scale instead. (But both items give the boost in Stadium 2 though)

The Battle Tower in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire is absolutely hilarious. After a certain point, every other battle is just some guy throwing out a Regi and using Explosion. It's like something you'd see in a rom hack.

I was super inspired by what @pikasprey.bsky.social said on a stream about alternate versions of groudon and kyogre for the other weather types. Granted ice groudon was a misspeak but the idea of swapping them really stuck in my brain #fakemon #pokeart #pokemon

Colored sketches depicting ideas for a "Hail Groudon" and "Sandstorm Kyogre." Each has a small blurb about them. Groudon's is "They say it sleeps on the icy caps of mountains. Old legends say not to speak too loudly while climbing, lest you cause it to stir in its sleep, causing an avalanche." Kyogre's is "They say it swims through the sand like water even when in a deep sleep. Be wary of shifting dunes lest you get carried far away." The first sketches then show Groudon sleeping on an ice cap and Kyogre swimming through sand while asleep like a shark. Next are based on the regular key art of them. Groudon is icy blue-white with a warm grey underbelly. The top of the head has a large curved crest of ice, and the normally red plates are snowy grey fur, all of the spikes are replaced with ice growths. The Kyogre is mostly brown with some tan, the top of it has ever-flowing sand which splits off into its tail fins. The markings are still red. The last sketches are half-body drawings of both of them roaring and creating hail/sandstorm they face away from each other but the hail and sand mingle in the middle. Groudon's eye is erroneously purple.

An obscure detail in early Pokemon games: In the Pewter City Pokemart in Gen 1, there is an NPC complaining that he was ripped off by a Magikarp salesman. But if you visit the same building in Gen 2, you can find the same person bragging about a Gyarados he's trained.
