Played more with this. Experimented with 1) shipping Nim based Python library only wheels ✅ 2) better interop with Numpy ✅ 3) shipping a non trivial algo (port of a ot1d by @stefano) testing also cpp backend ✅ all links to experiment refs in original nimlang repo below. More experiments to come…

Vibed but cool experiment. Created a nimlang python package that makes it easy to try nim with uv, you do not even need to have a c compiler (thanks to existing ziglang python package). In the following minimal example you get 10x improvement for fib(30) github.com/pietroppeter...

Very forceful statement by Terry Tao about AI and math. terrytao.wordpress.com/2026/09/11/a... Note, he is not claiming the models aren't real and powerful. He's talking about how that power should be used. This, I believe, is what all AI discussions should center.

Been happy with them for a while and trust them (no risk of enshittification I can see). One thing I like is the fact that you can make public your analytics (seems only fair and reasonable for open source stuff) github.com/pietroppeter...

Zig made a deliberate choice to ban AI contribution because they focus for them is on building a strong contributor community. The emphasis there is not on “performance” of compiler evolution but on the community aspects. And this makes it click for me as a sound design choice in that context

Compare with JavaScript, where the need for a fast compiler was felt hard by big players which put a lot of effort into making it fast (and partly similar work for different reason is coming to Python ecosystem). The weird connection is actually related to Zig and AI

While listening to this morning keynote at PyCon Italia, my brain made a weird connection between languages, performance and community. Diego was speaking about how the performance was not a problem early on and trade-off was on making compiler code readable and lower complexity. Focus on community
