If/when that contract is up for a renewal, anyone with a brain would push for a better user experience

You do realize economically disadvantaged people are eligible for reduced or free transit cards, right? Faregates that prevent fare evaders would not prevent people who need the rides from getting them.

I had this happen to me once while working as a conductor for Metra on the UPW. We would typically have 50-100 passengers but ended up with a whopping...3. Caused by holdover trainmasters from UP that didn't care about anything.

Absolutely incredible. One of the APTA shuttle buses was double parked on michigan blocking traffic

Something like that yeah. Also interesting thing, we're finally getting airbags on a district that isnt the MED

No this one does have trucks, but I think it moreso has to do with the 3rd set being the 1st one to be built with 4 cars from the start so it'll be 100% complete first.

If we were a proper country the LA metro area would look like Conqing.

Hopefully they have some reps there in the afternoon or something. Presumably at a minimum it'll stay there overnight between the 14th and 15th? I have no clue tho tbh

People like Andrew have no clue what its like to get off work and be exhausted and sore and still have to get home while the sun comes up hating everything about your life. I wanna see brochacho transfer 600lbs of tile between a shelf to a floor pallet and then pull it on a jack across a warehouse.

I wish I had the programming skillset to pull this off. Unfortunately i do not. I've tried a few times now, but my beloved javascript struggles with skeletonization.

It certainly doesn't help that google has way too wide of a line spacing, but also the fact that they almost never consolidate lines (by default i wanna say both apple and transit do it for regional/commuter/intercity rail (gtfs type 2)).

this is also by far the worst Transit tracker I have ever used. ever.

Lettuce Cat @piero.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I downloaded the app kind of hoping it might mention it there, but even funnier it doesn't mention Transit at all, at least in the obvious places of course they're running a fucking shuttle service that will likely be worse than just taking a Michigan avenue bus to Randolph and then the MED down

ORD is up 6.1% YTD for total passengers, with more growth actually being international. Cargo tonnage is also up 1+% and aircraft operations is up a whopping *10%*!
000
Lettuce Cat @piero.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Finally got July ORD and August DFW numbers. DFW is pretty damn close to 2025 ORD numbers (<500k) while ORD's current year 2nd place stays strong. I could clearly see ORD taking 1st place (within the US at least) when the new concourse opens in a few years.

IIRC MN didn't buy into the midwest equipment pool, so the latter is seemingly unlikely, though once amtrak figures out axle requirements stuff on the river runner, they should have some spare baggage cars sitting around.

Lettuce Cat @piero.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Well, probably a good instance of this happening. Outbound red + outbound yellow + inbound red

Like a dedicated car for bikes and people (does not exist) or just a baggage car (exists, but not on the train)?

Well, <= 8y3m, but yes. Either way service improvements are coming, with the biggest limiting factor being from lack of equipment in the US right now.
