Ever wondered what to do with these “weird” sensor entries in Android's device info? With version 1.2.0, you can now try to use these by defining its type or name in a custom experiment configuration. Identifying correct unit or scale at your own risk, though.

The acceleration spectrum of a rammer in use as measured by a smartphone placed on a nearby cable junction box (“KVz” in Germany). The hardware specs (engine rpm) match the highlighted peak, however, the harmonics are more dominant here.

Anything rotating with a few thousand revolutions per minute will create vibrations at the same frequency. Your phone's accelerometer can pick it up and phyphox can calculate the frequency spectrum, giving you the rotational frequency.

Measurement data in the phyphox elevator experiment:
1) at 20s (all values circa) the altitude determined from barometer data rises rapidly from 0 to 20 meters, at 70s it drops rapidly to 5 meters, at 170s back to 0 and stays there until 200s,
2) corresponding vertical velocity from mostly 0, with short spikes to 4 meters per second, -2 and -1,
3) vertical acceleration from the corresponding sensor, quite noisy until shortly before 20s and after 170s, little noisy in between, visibly even less from 70s.
