Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It’s harvest season. Which means all the Asian beetles and box elder bugs have migrated from the nearby fields to my house. Here’s hoping the first frost comes soon. 000
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Yeah. Guess I remember fondly my time living there in the late 2000s when the dems held several statewide offices and the governor hadn’t had their power usurped. 010
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 29/09/2026What D+ advantage do you think NC needs to overcome the present level of blatantly corrupt gerrymandering? 131
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 25/09/2026And then there's the new system to book travel. I didn't think it could get any worse than the old system...but somehow it did. You want that flight that shows on the airline website? Sorry, nope. Oh, you want to filter only hotels that aren't filled? HA! 050
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Wait, did I miss an opportunity to meet up with you in London? 131
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 01/05/2026Start the next “alternative drinking glass” trend. Mason jars are so passé. 000
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 27/04/2026It's almost like all those models were trained on — all — the things we've all written on the internet 000
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 27/04/2026The setting for our local one is quite ideal too. Outdoor tent? Woods and large farm fields? Junkyard across the street for a final showdown with the villain(s)? 000
Reposted by Phil HolleranMaggie Appleton @maggieappleton.com · 15/04/2026Got to talk at @aidotengineer.bsky.social conf last week about the need for collaborative AI engineering. Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Powerpoint is NOT a documentation tool. If you have to document things with a lot of text - write a document. If those documents need diagrams, create and insert them. Also, if you are giving a presentation and I can get all the info from your slides, you used too much text. 000
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 13/04/2026Cleaning out the fridge - good. Cleaning it out because it died…again - bad. How hard is it to build a reliable refrigerator that isn’t $15k+? I hate that it‘s far cheaper to replace a consumer model every 6-10 years than it is to buy one with a 20-30 year lifespan. 000
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 07/04/2026When I was in South MPLS all that awkward stuff (too big, too long, too little used) went on a bookshelf at the bottom of the basement steps. It was my "auxiliary kitchen storage." 130
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 02/04/2026The last time we were this close to the moon we were embroiled in an unpopular war and led by a corrupt, criminal president. We had the good sense to impeach that asshole…may this next part of history rhyme with the last. 010

Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 03/03/2026Yeah, I'm not a fan of DCTs for this reason. Not sure if it's a tech limitation or an implementation one. 110
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 03/03/2026Which e-tron do you have? Most should just do this so long as you don't have auto-hold engaged. 100
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 03/03/2026I've got an ID.4 too and do, occasionally, use "B" mode. It's kinda nice in slow-and-go traffic when I have no rear-seat passengers (kids) who are prone to motion sickness. But, like you, most of the time I just want to coast and not lose energy to the conversion process. 110
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 03/03/2026This! My pet peeve is whenever someone equates 1 pedal driving as an EV must have. Tesla did it because they were too lazy to try and make blended braking work well. 1 pedal is actually less efficient in many situations. No knocks against people who like it, but it isn't "better" or EV table stakes. 10731
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 03/03/2026The worst part is finding out there are solutions to your issues, but the company (which is the same one that built the product) has blocked them for "security concerns." 050
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 23/02/2026Glad you're having success. The filament/decorative bulbs I've purchased are prone to developing an annoying flicker after many months of use. 100

Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 11/02/2026Just spent the better part of an hour purging old emails, no longer needed Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, and files in my drive. It's almost as satisfying as purging physical things. 011

Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 14/01/20264/ - As we demand action from our elected officials we also need to demand action from those who fund them. It's our taxpayer money being spent to fund these un-constitutional, un-American, un-accountable goon squads. And it's our consumer dollars that get funneled into campaigns and donations. 100
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 14/01/20263/ - So why the silence? Are they just hoping the dementia-ridden faux-king will toss them some crumbs and/or contracts? Are they content to fight for a slice of a shrinking pie (fewer people with less purchasing power)? 100
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 14/01/20262/ - Fewer people in America mean fewer consumers to buy goods. Fewer people to pay taxes to fund services. Everyone who gets a paycheck pays taxes, even if they're undocumented....though undocumented folks don't get the medicare/medicaid/social security those taxes pay for. 100
Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Corporate America's silence is deafening, and confusing from an economics perspective. We live in a largely service-based, consumerist economy. Labor availability in the service sector is lower than demand. Any reduction to the labor pool will only hurt businesses more. 1/ 120

Phil Holleran @pholleran.bsky.social · 24/11/2025The Niro has a max DCFC rate of 85kw. Since that's a max rate, you're only likely to hit it under ideal conditions (10% SOC at start of charging session, mild ambient temps, and a DCFC capable of delivering the power) 140
