It’s harvest season. Which means all the Asian beetles and box elder bugs have migrated from the nearby fields to my house. Here’s hoping the first frost comes soon.

Got to talk at @aidotengineer.bsky.social conf last week about the need for collaborative AI engineering. All our current coding agents are single player. We're trying to scale up individual productivity, but creating tons of alignment problems in the process. We have no good tools for...
Title slide saying "One Developer, Two Dozen Agents, Zero Alignment Why we Need Collaborative AI Engineering"Slide saying "Alignment and communication is the new bottleneck"Slide saying "Human context is not in the codebase"

Business context & financial resources, Political dynamics, Product vision, User research insights, and Organisational history are not in the codebase.

Powerpoint is NOT a documentation tool. If you have to document things with a lot of text - write a document. If those documents need diagrams, create and insert them. Also, if you are giving a presentation and I can get all the info from your slides, you used too much text.

Cleaning out the fridge - good. Cleaning it out because it died…again - bad. How hard is it to build a reliable refrigerator that isn’t $15k+? I hate that it‘s far cheaper to replace a consumer model every 6-10 years than it is to buy one with a 20-30 year lifespan.

The last time we were this close to the moon we were embroiled in an unpopular war and led by a corrupt, criminal president. We had the good sense to impeach that asshole…may this next part of history rhyme with the last.

The latest version of @benjaminpercy.bsky.social’s The End Times made its way through the snow to my side of North End. Time to check in on my fellow townsfolk.
Issue number four of The End Times, sitting on my table.

I find it easier to read blogs on an e-ink device. Less distraction, more immersion in the content. To that end, I finally got around to cleaning up and releasing the (admittedly vibe coded) solution I use to push Atom-enabled blogs to my ReMarkable. Check it out: github.com/pholleran/at...

Just spent the better part of an hour purging old emails, no longer needed Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, and files in my drive. It's almost as satisfying as purging physical things.

Corporate America's silence is deafening, and confusing from an economics perspective. We live in a largely service-based, consumerist economy. Labor availability in the service sector is lower than demand. Any reduction to the labor pool will only hurt businesses more. 1/

Dear GOP corporate donors (overlords) - Having buyers remorse yet? Realizing that plunging the country into a recession, cutting funding for the fundamental research and education system that have powered our (until recently) world-leading economy is a bad idea? ... 1/

The local classic rock station “updated” its format to include songs from my youth (90s). I’m not old, I’m “classic.”

@techconnectify.bsky.social makes the case against our current era of the algorithmic internet in a far more elegant manner than I ever could. Let's not surrender our agency to powers seeking to exploit us for profit and control.

With all the cuts to things like fundamental research, education, and alternative energy as well as escalating trade wars removing the country from the global community, President Musk is really doing a great job of ensuring the continued success of the Glorious Replic... of China.

One way to deal with the illegal immigrant taking over the gov't is to end the TSLA investment cult / bubble. Value it like a tech company and its P/E ratio falls from 198 to around 30 (GOOG is 27). Value it like a car company and it falls below 10.

Getting ready to buy at least one replacement computer before the likely tariffs kick in next year and having this regularly recurring thought. "I'd gladly trade a few mm of thickness and grams of weight for user upgradeable/replaceable components." Stop soldering everything to the board, Apple!

How have so many come to accept unsubstantiated hyperbole as fact? That my country has (re)chosen a leader who only speaks in terms of best/worst seems, in part, the result of a cultural aversion to nuance. Have we reached peak clickbait society? or has this always been?
