Rasmus Fløe @phloe.co · 15/09/2026The preview image AVIF dishes up at ~8kb is impressive. But while the user gets no indication from that point on that anything is happening - so it will feel longer. JXL essentially starts as a "blurhash" with visible progress. You can almost hear the *clunk* when AVIF finally finishes loading. 😅 110 1

Second screenshot shows each format shows detail in different places at the same byte size. Neither format is perfect, both have flaws. 200 2
