#MusicHistoryA-Z #musicsky Alvin Lucier Experimental composer from New Hampshire. He was active from 1952 until his death in 2021. Much of his work is an exploration of the physical properties of sound.

I respect Morbid Angel's musical work but what I really admire in terms of their artistic output is the "unreleased slime pack".

These rock star types have eccentric taste.

I don't mind the music of the Smashing Pumpkins but Billy Corgan's real cultural legacy, for me anyway, is the story of him being intimate with a shape-shifting non-human entity.

They're great, first album and Touch are masterpieces - love their whole sound with its amazing sense of space.

I like Radiohead - no, I don't mean the band, I mean the Wesley Willis song of the same name.

What's the difference between Pure Moods III and Pure Moods 3? Are they the same? Please elaborate.

Phirnis @phirnis.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Forbidden "gibt" es "wieder", mit ganz eigenartiger Besetzung, u.a. einem Sänger, der sich als "the metal chameleon" vorstellt. Manchmal war doch früher alles besser.

Phirnis @phirnis.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I don't like black metal but I respect Venom's musical legacy for the impact it's had on other extreme metal. Always loved this cover version of their song Angel Dust by one of my favourite thrash bands. youtu.be/7wkpfww8vls

I want AI bots to take over big soon-to-be-retired rock acts like the Rolling Stones. Their output will be more efficient too. I can't wait for the Stones to release around 20 new albums every year.

One of the great things about art in any medium is you hang out with it, not with its creator. All you will ever experience is the work, you don’t actually have to deal with the person, and you can take that as the relief it is. You likely have enough people to deal with already

The thing is, Billy Joel *is* the Piano Man - art and reality become indistinguishable.

Love everything between Beneath the Remains and Roots. I'd always ignored Arise for some reason and got into it recently, amazing record.

A real game-changer - this was heavy too but in a completely different way than what was happening in guitar music.

With harsh noise wall it makes absolutely no sense to use AI. The 'walls' aren't particularly difficult to make and they don't require any big creative twists, so HNW is pretty much immune to AI implementation.

Easy to remember which is which: Modest Mouse is the band for true rock intellectuals.

110

Phirnis @phirnis.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Modest Mouse is the worst offender here, worth their Never Ending Math Equation being the bleakest and most desperate of all the math songs around.
