For all those people who think “the left got more radical,” this is what the evolution of the GOP has looked like over the past few years.

Extraordinary moment — Nancy Pelosi issues a statement calling on Democratic senators to reject the House funding bill, i.e. to defy Chuck Schumer. "Democratic senators should listen to the women," she says, referring to Murray/DeLauro who want a 1-month stopgap bill instead.

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN. ☎️: (202) 224-3121 Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid. The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING. Call retiring Senators too!

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable. Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes. Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Just 7% of Americans support Medicaid cuts. The hero Rep Al Green is 100% correct that Trump has “no mandate to cut Medicaid”. DEMS SHOULD HIGHLIGHT THIS INSTEAD OF STABBING AL GREEN IN THE BACK! Nobody gives a shit about your stupid decorum anymore during a fascist takeover and robber baron coup!

Mine was a review of popularity in q4 of 2024, which is not long ago and kind of the period we were discussing. Sure, the top 3 are inactive, but the one more popular than him was still Kamala Harris. Kulinksi is cool to follow on Bluesky but tbh his content is not where I get all my news/opinions

Vile lying scum. The bill raises taxes on the bottom 95%, cuts them for the rich, obliterates healthcare for the poor and disabled and slashes food stamps.

For housing, she had first-time tax buyer credits and a plan for 3 million new units, and don't try the "we already have enough houses," they're not where the homeless are and many are unsafe/condemned. Again, nothing is ever enough. Popularity of M4A varies depending on how the question is asked.

Also, procedure is essential to the functioning of the country. I'm not about to support some authoritarian that thinks they can govern on their own. You want anti-proceduralism, look to Trump for guidance.

The IRA was the #1 investment in green energy in the world, ever. The child poverty reduction act reduced child poverty by 60%. He capped insulin costs. Eliminated junk fees. The FTC was doing the more anti-trust stuff than we've seen in a long time. What a failure, man.

By "means-tested half-measures," do you mean systems that we know work and that are more popular than sweeping *untested* change?

"Not interested in engaging with downplaying of a loss" but Bernie was clearly bullied out of a win, right? Again, Kamala made mistakes. Dems make mistakes. But this insane level of vitriol ever only seems to point towards the people trying to make the country better, for some reason.

Chris 💙💛 (libbed up) @phireagicon.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
Embracing Cheney could have been a mistake, Kamala made some mistakes, but she was so far ahead of the GOP that its insane how hard the left tried to sabotage her. It wasn't what mattered in the end. I don't blame the far left for Kamala losing, but they tried their best to contribute to her loss.

Chris 💙💛 (libbed up) @phireagicon.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
Your complaints about Kamala's campaign are mostly messaging, it seems. And as I said, Dems need better messaging. I'm not being ironic when I say it seems people only care about slogans, not policy.

Bernie Sanders was not popular enough to win. I voted for him, too, but he didn't have the votes. He was not as popular as Biden. Simple as.

Chris 💙💛 (libbed up) @phireagicon.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
The far left has never cared enough to run a candidate. They just want to sit and complain that the world gets worse, then blame the only people trying to help. Kamala was running left of Biden on price controls, tax credits, left-wing policy. Your eternal phrase should be "nothing is good enough."

Inflation was largely caused by the pandemic, and due to Biden's policies and the policies of the Dems, it was not only getting better, but was better than the rest of the world had it.

Chris 💙💛 (libbed up) @phireagicon.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
Votes are earned. What has the far left done to earn votes? The problem with the centrist neoliberal types is they believe that they can earn votes with policy rather than slogans, and are kinda dry/cringe. Biden was the most progressive president by policy in living history, but it didn't help him

Chris 💙💛 (libbed up) @phireagicon.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
If voters voted the way they "should" Kamala would've won a Reagan-style landslide. We lost, like most other first-world incumbents, because of global inflation. The Democrat party has a broad tent to appeal to, which leads to more compromise and a more moderate position. It's more electable, yes.

Chris 💙💛 (libbed up) @phireagicon.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
You realize we vote for the candidate, right? Biden was more popular than his opposition. Bernie didn't even run in '24. Activists of all people should have recognized the danger of a 2nd Trump term, and to be frank, many did. If they abandoned the left over shortsighted nonsense, that's up to them
100
Chris 💙💛 (libbed up) @phireagicon.bsky.social · 13/02/2025
Who kicked the activists to the curb? Biden was the only president in history to ever walk a picket line. Any thinking lefty could see that Dems had superior domestic and foreign policy, and be honest, for the far far left, nothing would be satisfactory. They don't want power, only to critique it.
