Anyone who thinks “pay to play” is a uniquely soccer problem needs to dig deeper. If it can happen to a sport with the culture, roots and infrastructure that soccer in this country can only dream of, it’s a much bigger issue.

An All Star game right on the heels of the true all star month seems like a bad decision by MLS. I have already been to multiple MLS games this month and they were great but I couldn’t be less interested in the All Star game.

It's 15 minutes to kick-off of the first MLS game in 2 months, the first since the start of this hugely successful World Cup. There is no pregame show. There is no scene-set that explains the first half of the season. There is nothing to welcome new viewers and connect the league to the past month.

I suggest folks watch the HBO documentary on this team. Poch was a totally different coach during the 2025 Gold Cup when he had the team for an extended period of time vs the random friendlies. He’s a club coach at heart. We are seeing that again now.
