Good argument but I don't understand why you need to preface it with the reference to genocide, to which the guilty and the complicit have a plausible response. If you stick to war crimes and crimes against humanity, your critics are on weaker ground. (I agree it's genocide but...)

Delighted that Navi Pillay, chair of the UN commission which found Israel guilty of genocide in Gaza, has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Let Trump and Netanyahu splutter and fume: the truth becomes ever harder to deny.

The threats to our resilience are the same as the threats to our democracy: corporate lobbyists shaping policy, with dire consequences for our ability to withstand crises. Burnham seems to want to change this. But is he aware of scale of the task? My column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Here is how politics, in most cases, works: Rich and powerful interests, whether in fossil fuels, finance, big tech, media, meat, pharma or foreign governments, make a demand, and use their sophisticated tools to persuade a government to adopt it. The government adopts it. Please read whole🧵

It's not just that we had two wasted years under Keir Starmer - years in which, with a vast majority and quite a lot of goodwill - he could have turned this country around. On crucial issues, we had two years of spiralling backwards, towards a very dark place. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

That's not right. The article says "one of the main causes of dry day spills" is groundwater infiltration. I'm sure water companies sometimes do awful things but I know for a fact that groundwater infiltration (overloading sewers and exceeding treatment works capacity) is a real thing.
