I think the commercial bankruptcies point is valid, it helps competition and innovation as failing firms make way for new ones. In doing so you’d need adequate welfare and training support for impacted employees rather than hanging them out to dry.

Exactly. They’re not going to outright win an election. Good, green policies that aren’t at the extremes are sufficient to get the votes they need to be a serious 3rd party or kingmaker. Incentivise switching to renewables. The Bond Market must surely see the benefit in a more sustainable economy

I support net zero, but just announcing targets with no proper plan for getting there is pointless. People aren’t going to rush out and buy EVs because of wildfires and heatwaves in the numbers that allow car manufacturers to profitably transition and the country has the infrastructure for.

Exactly. Overturn the red card if an appeals panel is available to all teams to challenge a decision, but this is not that. FIFA aren’t contending if it was a red card offence, just invoking a rule which hitherto in this tournament hasn’t been available to other countries receiving red cards

Fair enough if you allow an appeal process if the decision is deemed to be wrong, but here the red card is not overturned, just some random interference in the proper application of the laws of the game. Any future reds in this tournament are surely meaningless now.

I can’t see Israel being satisfied with this outcome. The regime hasn’t changed, so from a sane person’s perspective the danger for Israel persists. Granted with less military hardware but with an awfully big motivation for retaliation in the future. The gulf states might also want some revenge

This is my concern about the white knight coming to rescue SWFC. Hopefully the Independent Football Regulator is all over this and there are no issues whatsoever (said with heavy sarcasm). I do think the clubs at risk of prem relegation are most at risk. Forest in particular
