AI lets us ask: what if discovery and understanding came apart? Historically they were bundled — you understood what you found. Now an AI system can find without understanding. That separation, Eamon Duede argues, is philosophically productive. It forces cleaner definitions.

There is not enough commentary about the fact that Osborne, the self styled beacon of prudence, introduced the triple lock without securing sustainability via linked NICs increases.

people rarely grow and learn from being targeted and humiliated. They retreat and return, at a later point, having internalised online discourse.

The collapse in certainty that comes with learning more stuff and aging is not necessarily a bad thing imo. Is the broader political/cultural collapse that is being felt in 'the West' amplifying this ?

I suspect you could count the number of the target constituency on Twitter on one hand. The fact they do not include the likes of Discord, and other digital vectors, such as Roblox (notorious) indicates they havent spoken to credible voices involved with protecting children online.

Security led sovereignty procurement is a real challenge if you have to get into component supply chains etc. I mean it is there for a reason in some domains, but risks becoming a real drag on efficiency. Security, as ever, is a trade off.

Yes that's a fair way of framing it. I have always favoured forms of PR though reluctantly accepted that FPTP keeps the fash out. That has now been utterly disproven in US and so politics needs to lean into the new reality and accept plurality.

Politics is transactionality writ large (macrotransactionality?) Population developing emotional relationships with a single party is part of the problem and is forcing a chaotic, rather than planned drift towards more PR based solutions.

3-panel comic. (1) [Three small arthropods on ocean floor.] ARTHROPOD 1: Now that we’re multicellular, what are your plans? I’m gonna evolve little legs and swim around with them! ARTHROPOD 2: I’m gonna evolve sharp pincers and use them to crunch stuff! ARTHROPOD 3: I’m gonna evolve glands to make string from my butt and use it to construct elaborate geometric nets hundreds of times my size to catch other animals. (2) [Silence] (3) ARTHROPOD 1: *Dude.* ARTHROPOD 2: Can you *please* just be normal about this? ARTHROPOD 3: *What??!*
