I'm sorry if this is obvious but the Tory proposal to exempt family homes completely from IHT will lead to 1] pensioners buying the biggest houses they possibly can 2] pensioners refusing to downsize which can only be bad news for younger families trying to buy family homes

For all the culpability of the centre are we now watching the far left in the process of gifting France to the far right?

Of course we Tories are not climate change deniers …it’s just that we want to abandon the net zero target, scrap environmental controls. and expand Heathrow ….

I had thought Andy Burnham had promised to fix social care…now it seems he is only offering a “vision” to be implemented at some indeterminate date beyond the 2029 election …and the politicians wonder why they have lost the trust of voters…

No you are not …seems when Burnham made all those promises to oust Starmer the invisble fine print included a proviso they were not for the present parliament …word in Whitehall is that upcoming 10-year plan will include all the promises he cannot keep! Used to be called kicking into long grass..

The Times & Telegraph can't help themselves, but if in some small way, a poll that shows Reform falling behind nudges the editorial team at the ostensibly neutral BBC into giving them a proportionate amount of (i.e. less) airtime, it'll have done something useful.
