Today was once the future. Decisions were made. Problems were solved. Others were left unsolved. Responsibility was taken. And often it was not. All of it helped create the reality we live in now. The future eventually becomes today.
TODAY
Where responsibility starts

🇬🇧 A long, almost endless path on the Chemin des Allemands (Trier – Le Puy). Ein gerader, fast endlos wirkender Weg auf dem Chemin des Allemands (Trier – Le Puy). #WSocialPics #Pilgrimage #Nature #Hiking #Camino #CheminDesAllemands
A long, straight gravel path stretches into the distance beneath a bright blue sky with white clouds. Dense green trees and shrubs line both sides, creating a calm and almost endless perspective. The image shows a quiet section of the Chemin des Allemands, the pilgrimage route from Trier to Le Puy, and conveys silence, space and the feeling of walking onward through nature.

How wonderful. A reply I posted to @cansbox.wsocial.eu regarding #WSocialPubs has appeared as the latest Basingstoke post via my Bluesky account. Will WSocial inadvertently make me infamous on Bluesky?😂 Better put my domain back, just incase 😉

Whilst my computer is busy uploading hundreds of photos for Nico and his @thecaminohistory.wsocial.eu I am still thinking about hashtags. I like art. If I post about it I am going to use #WSocialArt because #Wart looks wrong to me. Here's our local artist Sian Stories Basingstoke Station mural.

Currently, it's a delight to pick up my phone, whilst I let my tea brew, and read my feed. Real people, interacting and chatting, posting interesting content, no bots. I just asked a question about hashtags and now I'm about to sit down and upload some photos for The Camino website. Life is good.

Reality changes. So does what good requires. Technology creates new possibilities. New problems appear. Old solutions may stop being enough. Taking responsibility means changing what worked when reality requires it. Keeping something good can require changing it.
THE FUTURE — SOMETHING WE MAKE.

This is so wonderfully appropriate considering what I have just done with my Facebook and Instagram accounts. Being responsible for our own social media presence is a demonstration of strength. Choosing which platform we align with is ownership of the value of our own opinions.

Last week I removed all the other social media apps from my phone. It felt liberating. This morning I am going to login to my accounts, using an old laptop, just to see if I have missed messages and posts from friends. I'm hoping they will ask me where I've been, a great way to introduce WSocial.

For W to succeed, I don’t think it should be positioned as an alternative to anything. Every time that framing comes up, it feels like a missed opportunity. W should aim to stand on its own: new ideas, new systems, a new way of thinking. Not a copy of what others have done with a different vibe.

As I replied I am having a rethink about how I follow and my followers. I still feel safe with the verification process and I know that some real people will actually behave like bots and trolls. It's the enigma of trying to find humanity within humanity. Human beings being human beings.

Taking responsibility can also mean giving responsibility to someone else. But you are responsible for how you hand it over. Prepare them. Support them. Give them room. Take one step back as they take one step forward. Giving responsibility is itself a responsibility.

My hand written note detailing a square with bubbles inside it that represents different points of view that are all connected to help prevent polarisation. My note detailing how WSocial can potentially eliminate isolation by allowing all thoughts within the rule of law framework. I am so impressed with the new filter features as, not only am I seeing content that I want from verified real people, I have also noticed that my app on my phone is zipping along very responsively. It's as if the Bluesky drain has been unblocked. Now to settle down and read my Constitution email.

Having this setup suits me personally. I'm not here to build a big audience or promote anything, I just want to have interesting exchanges of views with real people. I can foresee a criticism that these settings are "elitist." I would counter by stating that they make your account "botless."

I am enjoying this slow growth with real people. I also like this image. It reminds me of a time when I was a beta tester for a game called Zombies, Run! Runner 5 had to exit the camp to collect essential things and return unharmed. WSocial opens the gates every now and then to let in real people.

I've just RSVP'd as I feel the best way to combat smear campaigns is to expose them. Everyone is entitled to their own perception of their truth. There is no longer any room for the technocratic coercive control of information. Humanity needs human conversations without censorship.

The *mantinada* is a form of Cretan folk poetry: It consists of exactly two lines of verse that usually form a rhyming couplet. It follows a strict 15-syllable meter (iambic decapentasyllable) with a fixed caesura (breath pause) after the eighth syllable. #Mantinada #Poem #Poetry #Crete

Fat fingers and texting. I have fat fingers and I find texting a chore. Last night I scared a friend who has been texting me a lot by ringing his phone to speak to him. "What's wrong?" he asked with panic in his voice. "Nothing, except thumb cramp" I replied. We both laughed and chatted on.
