They have always envied what al-Qaeda and ISIS "get to do".

I strongly suspect this is their revenge for the glee a few people joked about taking from watching the footage of Charlie Kirk's murder.

3) Admit that some types of cycling infrastructure do make things worse for pedestrians and motorised public transport. (Eg "floating bus stops" should not be allowed without an IRON rule of "if people are boarding or alighting, cyclists WILL STOP".)

2) If you see a reckless, aggressive cyclist terrorising pedestrians, confront them or put up "who is this asshole" helmet cam footage the way you do when motorists threaten or harm you.

Very simple things! 1) When people on foot tell you about being terrorised or injured by reckless, aggressive cyclists, show sympathy and don't bombard them with "bUt CaRs ArE mOrE dAnGeRoUs".

Usually "far right" is fascism, "hard right" is anti-government anarcho-capitalism.

And it was the BBC's fault for going into existential national crisis mode with all normal programming cancelled and continuous rolling updates. I would really like to know who made those choices and on what grounds.

(And also, "Smile Time" was an isolated comedy standalone in a heavily serialised and eventually tragic season, instead of just one in a series of random gimmick episodes.)

The problem is that making everyone but Spock a muppet instead makes the episode look, as Liz suggests, like a poor attempt to copy the "Muppets as rep company playing roles in a classic story " films and TV shows. (4/4)

The episode is absolutely hilarious, but this is because the focus is on the other characters' reactions to Angel as a muppet. It's one of the best of the many comic relief episodes of the series that mock Angel's "grim, brooding, self-pitying anti-hero shtick. (3/n)

In "Smile Time", Angel is investigating a group of demons who have turned themselves into puppets to make a children's TV show, in order to mystically prey on the child viewers. Angel accidentally activates their transformation spell himself and gets transformed into a puppet. (2/n)

This critique of "Level Five Transporter Accident" is good, but it gives the show too much credit in what it was, I think, aiming for. I think it's an attempt to copy a very fondly remembered episode of "Angel", "Smile Time". (1/n)

He had a huge majority because the left and centre voted tactically against the Conservatives and Reform and the right vote was split between the Tories and Reform. People voted against the right, not for him. Then he spent two years systematically persecuting minorities and insulting Labour voters.

Recently there was a TV streaming show in Britain called Secrets of the Underground, about the London Underground, and a couple of episodes had appearances by an NB signaller called Charlie Monroe. I was scared there would be negativity on social media but no hostile reaction at all.

The kind of brick and mortar shops that can compete with online are specialist shops with knowledgeable staff who can give opportunities to try or taste before you buy. Unfortunately those are the ones that don't make enough money to satisfy landlords and financiers.

He wasn't policing fanfic, he was responding to shippers who were calling him a self-hating gay man for not writing H/W. They would end up demanding that British gay orgs disassociate themselves from him because he'd "harmed queer folk" by not having Cumberbatch and Freeman fuck on screen.

Also, even if it was due to EES it wouldn't have been because of Brexit - EES is for non-Schengen countries and the UK never joined Schengen.

As someone who was in that position, it makes sense to have a visible steering wheel lock. Professional car thieves aren't interested in cheap old cars, but you want to deter the kind of scrote who'll steal it, do some donuts, and then burn it for a laugh.

Conan Doyle Holmes in modern dress risks provoking the kind of justified reactions we saw to Moffat-Gattiss Holmes, along the lines of the left-edgelord reading of Bruce Wayne as just "a billionaire who goes out at night in a mask to beat up poor people".

Philip Eagle @philegal.bsky.social · 21/04/2026
I think it's more justifiable in a modern-dress adaptation. Other than the specific context of US policing I think people are less trusting of upper class amateurs and want people in professional roles of power to be accountable to peers and the wider community.

I'd disagree here - Elementary Holmes can be arrogant and inconsiderate, but even in the earliest episodes he has a powerful sense of justice and compassion for people in bad situations. Far from an "arsehole".

Who is this meant to appeal to? I mean, Sunak wanted to bring back conscription in 2024, but that was for his base of hateful old gits who wanted to fantasise about imaginary pink-haired snowflake teens getting screamed at by sergeant-majors and made to clean the drill yard with toothbrushes.
