In the Spikers League, the Boo Man Bluff has a nearly perfect stat spread, but there's just one problem... it's movement is very imprecise. Trying to move forward will cause it to veer left or right a little, making it really hard to control. The "Hear" I Come! ability has it listen for nearby opponents. If it picks up the presence of one nearby, it will fly directly at them and give them a scare, launching them back!

Boo Blahs aren't the fastest or strongest captains, but they're defensive specialists who can reach far to save balls, and reach high to block incoming spikes! The Sneaky Surprise technique has a Boo Blah sink into the ground, before reappearing below a nearby opponent and grabbing them with its gangly hands and tossing them away forward, backward, or upward!

However, Rosalina managed to keep one thing from Peach before they got separated - either a stuffed animal, or a picture of them, or something - that she keeps as a memento in her library. Seeing that is what finally makes Peach's memory click into place when she gets on the observatory.

The ache of Peach's loss is never truly gone, but the Lumas heal her soul in a way that allows her to find peace with it and become protector of the cosmos. This results in her backstory being a bit of a loose adaptation of the original storybook - only it's her sister she lost, not her mother.

However, they wear a big leaf hat, and if a Yoshi or anyone else steps on it, they make a delightful sound! Hopping on many Croachoirs in a row can result in some wonderful songs. Croachoirs aren't good runners, but they make perfect passes if the ball lands on their leaves. They can also let their teammates make huge leaps off their heads to make spikes. Finally, the Singsong Boost is a special song that buffs the speed, power, and jumping ability of nearby teammates. Passing the ball around or helping teammates jump, which make the Croachoir sing, lets this buff last longer!

They can trap prey in the large bubbles they blow out of their mouths. This ability can be augmented with different kinds of fruit to produce different kinds of bubbles! Small Warts are defensive players who can make expert passes on the ball, and leap up high for powerful spikes. And if an opponent gets too close, they'll get a taste of the Small Wart's Bubble Trap ability: it blows a huge bubble that traps opponents inside, making them immobile and forcing them to mash to pop out.

But these Inchworm Pipes have been given life by the weird and wacky powers of the Wonder Flower, allowing them to move around all on their own! Granted, with no arms and legs, they can't do much more than slither, but some movement is better than none. The Inchworm Pipe's length makes it the ideal defender, able to stretch to block balls coming into the team's side of the court. Their special move is Pipe Cannon, where they can suck a teammate, an opponent, or even the ball in one end, then launch them out of the other! Use it to get teammates out of harms way, or turn your enemies into human projectiles.
