Today, Pittsburgh City Council approved a Will of Council submitted by Councilmember Warwick, urging Duquesne Light Company to return to the bargaining table in good faith to ensure IBEW Local 29 workers receive a fair contract:

WHEREAS, after negotiations failed, IBEW Local 29 members initiated a strike on October 1; and,
WHEREAS, for several years, IBEW Local 29 leadership has raised concerns about staffing shortages
as well as documented unsafe working conditions and workplace injuries; and
WHEREAS, those shortages have impacted DLC’s service and have contributed to power outages
lasting nearly two weeks for some residents following severe weather events; and,
WHEREAS, these issues deserve to be addressed in good faith at the

The Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh (DSAP) will hold their annual Pittsburgh Buddy Walk on Saturday, October 10, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Hazelwood Green. The Buddy Walk is a celebration of people with Down syndrome and their families — a day of music, activities, and community.

This fall, Pittsburgh Water will begin construction on water infrastructure improvements in Hazelwood. The work will include water main replacement and upgrades to aging infrastructure using a process which extends the life of the sewer while reducing the need for digging in streets and sidewalks.

The Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) has announced that a traffic calming project on Murray Ave., from Morrowfield to Welfer, has been scheduled for construction September 23-30 (weather permitting).

In 2024, City Planning developed a series of zoning amendments designed to reduce barriers to new housing construction, lower housing costs, and expand affordable housing options. This bill has gone through a number of changes over the past two years and will soon come to Council for a final vote.

The Regent Square Civic Association's Annual Bar Crawl is back on Saturday, July 11! From 2-6 p.m., join your neighbors as you visit some of Regent Square's favorite bars. It's a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy a few drinks, and support the community.

This Friday, July 10, Hazelwood Local is hosting a free screening of Hoppers, Disney and Pixar's new animated comedy-adventure, at Hazelwood Green. The plaza will open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will begin at 7:30 p.m. Arrive early to secure your spot and enjoy complimentary popcorn!
