My blueskyless and twitterless friend Elise Savier has organized a conference for systems neuro of subcortical circuits: broad range of topics, great speakers and I am jealous of the location. Please repost and consider attending

Glad to see this is published. enjoyed the pre print. what we all want to know is how do granule cells develop this temporal basis. Presumably over learning, but how? Several have proposed mechanisms (diversity of presynaptic stp, ubcs, etc). Many thoughts! Too many for a tweet. Congrats!

One of my favorite “biologically accurate fictional details” is in Sade’s “No Ordinary Love” video where the Mermaid (played by Adu herself) sits at the bar and adds salt to her glass of water.

Banger of a paper. Walter Heiligenberg also floated some of these receptive fields ≠ the whole story ideas back in the early 80s when he recorded from torus semicircularis of electric fish and found , well, broadly “tuned” neurons.

Jianing’s got a good point here. We should also think about the ethological validity of experimenter vs subject trial initiation. Are we modeling flashcard performance or world-exploration?
