Yeah, I fully understand. I buy portables sometimes but for the most part never really take them outside or anything and have a Deck that I keep docked because it's so big and heavy. Wanted a Retroid Pocket because it seemed convenient and was convinced to get the priciest current one.

V/H/S/Mixtape Eh. I've only seen a couple V/H/S things, but I assume they tend to have sort of hit-or-miss sequences. It was the same for this one, where I thought a couple of them were good and the rest were like, ok at best, though there usually tended to be a bit of artistry I thought was neat.

unfortunately that eventually starts to stretch the meaning of "affordable", so it might depend on what you're looking for I went with the 12GB RP6 for relative future-proofing and apparently OK Steam usage, but that's about 300 USD (which, I suppose, is affordable compared to the deck's $800)

yeah, as far as I can tell, if you want to play Steam games, you want a Windows or Linux-based device instead of an Android one since I assume Android has to jump through more hoops, but a powerful enough Android device shooould work for smaller games I think.

Will do. Thanks for all the help so far; it's really made this easier on my end. And yeah, I'm hoping that in terms of raw power it can handle a good deal of things since everything up through sixth gen (+ later Nintendo) emulation seems p much solved by now, with hopefully more opening up

actually, on second thought, the official store shows the 12GB black version as out of stock on AliExpress, and the base listing is a good deal more expensive than on Retroid's own site, so I assume a sale won't slash much. I may just go ahead and order direct so I know I'm getting what I want.

Yeah, I mostly play in my room instead of "truly" portable, so I have easy access to another kind of device usually. playing DS/3DS games is another thing, but I think I'm fine with just playing those on my 3DS.

I've also sort of wondered if one of the dual-screen devices (so pretty much just the Thor) would be a better investment but...idk. sort of feel like the form factor of a retroid pocket-like is more immediately appealing in addition to being cheaper

I probably would use it primarily for emulation, but options are nice. I honestly don't really like using my Deck much non-docked since it's so heavy and not OLED, so something that can play (lighter) Steam games like indies would be nice. but the 12 GB RP6 is a bit pricey...

A Super Robot Wars NEO English translation is in the works and is moving along nicely overall! Some of the work on SRW GC primed me for working in Dolphin, and its successor here in NEO is also looking quite nice to date. Some screenshots below (and maybe a set of bad pun ones slightly later).
