46 layers of paint were unearthed in a tenement house kitchen in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. 46 families, like the Moores from Ireland, made their first home in America on 97 Orchard Street. The final paint colour was a pale blue. What will be the next layer in America’s complex migration story?
