A judicially authorized kinetic engagement was executed from the kosmically korrupt klown kar against Ilhan Omar and the American people. Unfathomably stupid. 18 U.S. Code § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law

I agree with the sentiment, but Ossoff would crush him like a bug. That, I’d like to see.

Ossoff should invite Brooks on stage for a conversation covering a wide range of topics.

Hooray for it, intentional or not! It’s occurred to me more than once that all of this surveillance state shit and engines of political control are far more vulnerable to low tech low effort disruption than the supply chains stretching around the globe and we know how that’s worked out.

sandbox stuff and the models released into the wild should not be trained on random weird stuff. Irrespective of actual practice, I’m pretty sure they know all of that, so it seems to me that this whole effort to keep end users from coarsening the model is just PR bullshit to imply consciousness.

Tl;dr but I did read the abstract. I’m not an expert and have no interest becoming one, but my comment was driven by the inference I made that their concern is for the ethical health of the model. If they want to train on interactions as part of a research project, fine, but that should be

Maybe one thing they could do is start being a little more selective about where their training data comes from. GIGO.

The development of ai sort of tracks along with the development of drone warfare in Ukraine. But instead of dropping (at least not yet) lethal munitions, ai is bombing all our lives with an overwhelming number of little packets of annoyance.

If this is a life threatening medical emergency, please hang up and dial 911. If you are seeking routine care from a competent medical professional, please stay on the line, although, tbh, you’re in for a long frustrating day.

signaling, but that’s the basic idea. Users could set their own funding level and publishers could decide on a per piece basis at what level of funding they would grant access.

At the end of the month, the clearing house divides up my $100 among all of the publishers whose work I’ve signaled my approval of. If there is only one, they get the whole $100. If there are 100, they all get $1. There are other features that could be added to such a system to improve market

As a news consumer i could subscribe to the ‘news’ at some set rate, say $100, and would then be free to read anything published by anyone that sets their ‘commitment threshold’ at or above the $100 level. Then when I choose, as a consumer, hit the ‘purchase button’ for content I find valuable.

I have no evidence, but believe strongly that the industry as a whole is leaving money on the table by not solving this problem. I believe micro payments could be effectively implemented by processing them through a clearing house in the same way Visa works for an infinite number of vendors.

Peter Kurze @peterkurze.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Agree absolutely. I don’t know what Josh’s analysis of micropayments was, but I’m damn sure the proliferation of paywalls leads inevitably to balkanization of the information commons and ultimately serves no one especially smaller publishers.

I agree with Bacon in general on this and in particular that specific economic issues come and go. One constant that never fails is that Republicans always lie about everything and never do any of the things that the use during elections to hoodwink the public. This seems politically cogent.

Do you mean to tell me that after 250 years someone has noticed that market forces are NOT guaranteed to bring about the greatest public good? How long will it be before someone from Chicago comes out with a book called The Road To AI Serfdom?

I’m really ok with the notion of this country being held to account for the next 100 years or so. If our sense of our own exceptionalism never recovers, so much the better for us and the world. It’s not like we rode into 1940 cloaked in glory or illuminated a shining path since.

Seems like class as it’s currently used by the left is a guarantee that it represents a zero sum game. Polanyi pointed out that as socio- economic situations change, a.) class is a very fluid construct and b.) only a fraction of class interests are defined economically.
