Ik heb het een half jaar geprobeerd. 2/10, would not recommend. Ik kan me inderdaad niet voorstellen hoe vreselijk het is om dit jaren te hebben, zonder concreet uitzicht op verbetering. Je zit niet op een knuffel van mij te wachten, maar hier heb je een mooi fofeltje

Same opulent stately house as yesterday, seen from a different angle ##AlphabetChallenge #WeekOforOpulent #photography #autumn
A stately home in a landscape park, partly visible behind autumnal trees on the right. In the foreground is a pond, in which the home and the trees are reflected. To the left is another couple of trees in full autumn dress.

I love me a nice watch. This thing is hideous. A run-off-the-mill quartz watch, looks mediocrely executed, no originality whatsoever. You can get much better for much less.
A watch I got in 2005 to commemorate the birth of our first grandson.

Propâhly opulent #AlphabetChallenge #WeekOforOpulent #photography #autumncolors #autumn
A stately home between two groups of trees in autumn colors. In the foreground, a lawn, behind that, a small lake. The rather large country house is situated at the lake, and its reflection can be seen in the water.

I discovered that I don't have many opulence photos. But there are a few. This may seem like a stately home, but it is in fact the building I worked in, from 2010 to 2017. I was a programmer. My friends called me Sir Codealot. 😁 #AlphabetChallenge #WeekOforOpulent
A symmetric castle, in 18th century style. The towers and the moat suggest that it dates back further than that, and indeed, it was already there in ca. 1310.
It's called Kasteel Nederhorst.

There were many glowing eulogies from the music world. But this is arguably the most beautiful one, from Steve Topping, an English master guitarist:
In memory of Allan Holdsworth
--------------------------------

He was alone at the summit of what is possible on a guitar.
At its best what he did on a guitar is as good as a guitar can be, or any music can be.

Long before he played guitar, he was drawn to the sound of violin and saxophophone.
But it was a technical miracle to render these other sounds through the guitar.

There was no one like him before... to this day nobody really sounds like Allan.
The more you try to play like him, the further he recedes from your grasp.

His lyricism was heart melting.
In full flight he soared, weaved, and dived like a swallow.

His sense of time was astonishing, a mystery: authority emanating from forensically vague phrasing.
He was a jeweller in the rarified area of harmonic rhythm.

So much is conveyed in his music, not least what it is to be human and true to yourself.
With this at the core, he set off and climbed a mountain of his own invention.

Everybody except him, but including guitar and music gods like Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani, just to name a few, would sing his praise. His record company called him "The man who changed guitar forever". He hated that. This is his headstone:
The headstone on Allan Holdsworth's grave:
In loving memory

mood
A dark, derelict factory hall. On the right, there's a large opening through which bright sunlight comes in. The sunlight is shining on an empty chair, directly facing the light. The sunlight is visible in the dust that hangs in the air. There are many small holes in the slanted roof, through which sunlight creeps in. There is a skylight at the top left to balance out the bright sunlight on the right.
The general atmosphere is decay, contrasting with the bright sunlight. Time stands still.

(This should be safe now...😎) #AlphabetChallenge #WeekMforMemories Last one from our Scotland vacation in 2003. We had some decidedly un-Scottish weather those weeks -- the week this photo was taken, temps went up to 29°C! Here's my beloved with her XD7, using her roll bag as a tripod substitute.
