My health insurance company is now spamming me with texts and calls from an LLM bot, dear god make it all stop
Two text messages reading

"Hi, this is Sophie, your AI Care Advisor from MVP Health Care. Please expect a call in the next few minutes from this number."

And

"Hi this is Sophie from MVP Health Care. Sorry I missed you. I'll try again soon. Feel free to call us back at this number at your earliest convenience. Thank you!"

To be fair to ol' conehead here, he's spent most of his life as what Marxists would call the bearer or personification of the capital relation, the vessel through which money flows and returns back to itself as accumulation, M-C-M'. Easy to lose all sense of one's humanity under such conditions.
Marc Andersen:

You're a 15 second sliding context window with the working memory of a goldfish, your long term memory is mainly fake, and it's a minor miracle you can get out of the door in the morning.

TLDR There is no inner self, you're chasing an imaginary concept, the end.

Lots of good stuff here, but a key bit, missing from a lot of critiques, is that it attempts to wrestle with what the viable alternative is, given that you need to keep the cops from going into all-out revolt from day 1. I don't know if this is it specifically, but it's at least a concept of a plan.
Far better for New Yorkers and for Mamdani's mayoralty to impose Mamdani's will on 1 Police Plaza. If there is to be an NYPD now that the abolitionists are marginalized, Mamdani has to challenge it to protect New Yorkers from ICE. All of Tisch's experience makes it ridiculous to expect her to do that. I keep hearing how Mamdani has significant support from a rising generation of Desi NYPD officers. He should pick the seniormost among them to run 1 Police Plaza, make the NYPD a problem for ICE, and keep public pressure on the NYPD if it resists protecting people from ICE. An NYPD that won't protect people from ICE is an NYPD that will discredit itself—and in the process raise profound questions about why it needs a $10 billion budget and a citywide surveillance network.

He tries to counter that Dinkins was a "co-member" of DSA and the Democratic Party, which makes no sense as Zohran shows in his next response.

I've made other statements in print that I'd now revise or retract, but this remains the funniest/bleakest one

This is just the same third way Clintonite bullshit as the party establishment is pitching, with a bit of social democratic paint on it. As if "defund the police" and "open borders" had anything to do with liberalism in 2024. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Quote from the linked article reads: 'The Democratic party’s image is dictated by high-profile figures and organizations that champion causes that are, to say the least, off-putting to most working-class voters. It’s not just that “woke” slogans like “Defund the police” and “Open borders” are a liability. It’s that to be liberal today is to embrace the values of well-educated, high-income, big-city professionals. And moreover, given that liberals have an immense amount of cultural power, these values are broadcast widely through social media, the entertainment industry and the academy.'

Am I the only one who instinctively appends "pray that we don't update it any further" to this style of corporate communication
