There's a longstanding criticism that The Lord of the Rings is too descriptive. I think that general idea is what brought us to our time of media illiteracy, shortcuts, and AI slop. When he describes a hill for two pages, Tolkien is asking you to use your imagination to conjure a nonexistent place.

I do too. I really do. And I think that aspect might be in Cregger's movie. I think the actual obstacle is that the archetypal PS1 survival horror protagonist is not a character that can translate into real stories. And that's why we'll never be happy (no Parasite Eve movie).
