I'm guardedly optimistic for this scenario and skeptical of the narrative of an AI dystopia in which bots destroy human employment at scale. Imho that scenario is mostly a figment of the imaginations of nerds who've watched too many dystopian scifi movies and/or are prone to misanthropy generally. 🙃

Tbh main thing I expect is increased productivity, in the traditional way economists' measure it: value of work produced per employee. There's a long history of new tech like cars, the telephone, etc affecting such metrics, thus boosting GDP and other stats as well, including overall employment...

I dunno. Maybe iterative change, accumulated over time, can be more revolutionary than we think? For example, I'm highly skeptical of aggressive predictions of AI-related change over the next 1-5 yrs. But I have no doubt it will be seriously impactful over the next 20.

The real potential is that as users we now have everything we need to reap real benefits of this new category of tech while also minimizing lock-in to oligarchic platforms, as has happened in previous product categories. We have time yet to avoid that fate in #AI.

Totally agreed. Tbh I'd love to see them make Torrens the regular catcher in '27. Enjoy the elite defense for ~120 games, hit him 9th, and effectively use Alvy as the backup. That said, Alvy also gets into ~140 games, mostly at DH so they actually have his bat for a full season. Wins all around.

Android is based on the Linux operating system's kernel. You may want to look for a custom open-source mod that takes out all the Google tracking/apps. There are several like that, though I haven't tried this approach myself in awhile tbh...
