I had a 2 piece Neil Diamond cover band called Diamonds in the Rough that toured America in 97 and played places like Fisherman’s Wharf. In the film they had a 3 piece ND cover band of the same name in 2001 that played at another California boardwalk. So unfortunately not super up my alley.

Ohhh, yeah there was a big gesture from someone I’m really not cool with, and I didn’t know what to do with that. Again, more emotional labor. But I really don’t fault anyone for not doing it right. I’m very much guilty of not reaching out to friends to provide those small kindnesses.

Everyone’s needs are different, but it feels like a good rule of thumb for when a friend loses a close relative is to not pretend like it didnt happen, but also don’t make them do additional emotional labor. A quite kind gesture that you don’t require acknowledgement for is a great move if you can.
