🐦This #WorldMigratoryBirdDay highlighted shared spaces, creating bird-friendly cities for thriving avian diversity. Progressive ecological urban planning shows how biodiversity conservation can be part of sustainable urban transitions.🧪🌍 .—IPBES #GlobalAssessment 📷 @migratoryspecies.bsky.social
Promotional poster for World Migratory Bird Day 2025 with the theme "Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities." The illustration shows various bird species coexisting in an urban environment. In the foreground are sunflowers and native plants, with a tall gray crane and a yellow songbird. Multiple birds are shown in flight, including a peregrine falcon, stork, and other urban-adapted species. The background features a cityscape with modern buildings and white clouds against a blue sky. Organization logos appear at the bottom, including CMS, AEWA, EAAFP, and Environment for the Americas, along with a QR code. The artwork style is detailed and naturalistic, emphasizing the interaction between urban and natural elements.

@mikemorecroft.bsky.social @naturalengland.bsky.social describes the evidence that #NatureBasedSolutions can work, but sometimes fail when done in the wrong way. Building the evidence of how they can be done well to deliver for both nature and people (and climate) is essential.

Charles Glover gives #rewildingfutures a positive message about the potential of the seas to recover when pressures on ocean wildlife are reduced. The blue belt of UK overseas territories are hugely effective. Closer to home, UK Highly Protected Marine Area work #MARINE #REWILDING

Spot the dog in this photo! Luigi Boiteni tells #rewilding conference that Europe needs to move from saving the wolf from extinction to living with success. We need to recognise coexistence with predators as a journey not a destination. #rewildingfuture

Fantastic #rewilding conference in Cambridge today. Frans Scheepers and David Thomas identify 8 factors for successful nature recovery at landscape scale. Ensuring nature conservation policies accelerate and enable, rather than hinder, larger projects is part of the solution.

I was struck this morning by the sense of dire urgency expressed by Dame Glenys Stacey, Chair of the @OfficeforEP, on the need to quickly ramp up efforts to get on track to meet legally binding Nature goals. Time is running out, & so is Nature. www.theoep.org.uk/report/gover...

Jane Austen’s plates or the woods near her home? I know which I’d rather save | Martha Gill
Why this hierarchy of heritage? Our obsession with buildings and artefacts is blinding us to the value of nature
