Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 16/07/2026The Psion MC600 has been emulated in MAME for awhile now. We weren't aware of any software specifically released for it ... until now. We found mention that some DOS apps were released on SSD, ie. Lotus 1-2-3 and dBASE III, then promptly found an SSD image of both apps, licensed to Psion! 151
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 13/07/2026In the next MAME 0.289 release we have the rare Psion 618C emulated. It's a Psion Revo for Traditional Chinese regions. The standard Revo has 8MB ROM but this has 16MB which adds a couple of games and English<->Chinese translators. There's also a Psion 618S with Simplified Chinese yet to be found. 052

Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 10/01/2026There's a 4K character ROM on the terminal board too. I have a ROM set so this is just for comparison until I get it running. 120
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 10/01/2026Can you dump the ROMs, this is not yet emulated so should probably take a look at it sometime. 120
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 13/12/2025I really should've changed the keys when I played, too many missed lifts due to indecisive finger and thumb. 120
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 13/12/2025Always ZX:/, never use SPACE for anything requiring precision, as many were destroyed thanks to the likes of Planetoid. 010
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 11/12/2025Also started with ZX81, dad had to search wide and far to find a WHSmith that had one in stock and would hold until we get there. 020
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 10/12/2025Not heard of this Paxton variant before, a more common luggable Master was the LTM Portable (a B+ version was also available). 000
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 16/11/2025He hadn't, and got that score on his second attempt! 130
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 16/11/2025That was a tough score to beat, I came close a few times. I'm the other two on the left, though one of them was beaten at the end of the day. 120
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 07/11/2025Not a widely used CPU, but Tomy narrows it down considerably. 010
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 31/10/2025Here's some emulation progress of the rare Wren Executive, only 1000 made. An interesting CP/M machine with 64K/256K RAM and graphics capabilities with colour attributes. It also came with BBC BASIC and had a 40 column mode with 8 colours for Prestel. 031
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 19/10/2025Oh, different issues! Is the Limpet test disc imaged too? 110
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 17/10/2025What does the /38 signify? I started some emulation improvements on the P2000 range a few months ago that I need to get back to. 100
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 14/10/2025Same here, my i7-4770K is still plenty for my uses. Have enrolled in the free extended support to get another year out of it though. 010
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 06/10/2025The only BBC game in the top 30 being 747 Flight Sim sounds a bit suspect. 020
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 03/10/2025Wireless video? Not seen anything like that before. Is it even legal to transmit in the UK? I remember in the 80's we had a video sender box that would transmit the VCR to other TVs in the house, am sure it wasn't legit. 110
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 02/10/2025I knew it looked familiar, but still had to look it up to be sure. 020
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 30/09/2025Looks like some dodgy bloke is nicking bits out of them! 020
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 15/09/2025Ah, so yours announces itself as 68000XD for the disk version, and the ROM is 68000XR, never knew that. More of this Crossware stuff needs archiving as so little is available to play with. 000
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 15/09/2025The Crossware 68K ROM that's archived is from 1985. I'd be interested in any Crossware ROMs you have in case there's anything not yet archived. 110
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 15/09/2025Don't think I've ever seen you with anything Acorn before! 210
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 15/09/2025Speaking of Dragons ... no meetup this year, or are the usual suspects at GameFest instead? 000
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 03/09/2025With the latest video improvements in MAME 0.280 we can now also play with the PMS Genie ROM (with PMS Clock). It's quite an impressive package for the time with 32K battery-backed RAM to keep it's data safe. 041
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 03/09/2025Another clone of the BBC Micro, the extremely rare (only two known to exist) Hope Dolphin from India is also now officially supported. 000
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 03/09/2025The latest MAME 0.280 release has lots of BBC Micro improvements, fixing lots of silly issues, and is finally able to render Elite correctly. Another nice addition is the emulation of the Acorn speech upgrade, which currently no other emulator supports. 162
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 05/08/2025Ah, the emulator that has no source for the ROMs it requires. 010
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 05/08/2025Which emulator are you referring to? MAME emulates both the PHC-20, thanks to Tony, and PHC-25. 110
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 05/08/2025Yes, the 6847 does generate colours, but NTSC! My interpretation is that it generates a colour NTSC signal that cannot be decoded by a PAL TV decoder, so the result is black and white. I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong but isn't it also 60Hz which PAL TV's just about manage to lock onto? 110
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 22/07/2025Our first phone in the 70's was a Trimphone, and family home still has the same number that was allocated back then, albeit now with an extra digit. 010
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 18/07/2025Ever wondered what it's like to have a Votrax Type 'N Talk hooked up to a BBC Micro via the RS423 port? 121
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 06/07/2025Another ROM for the Psion Series 3mx was dumped yesterday, this is a Dutch version and will be supported in the next MAME release. We're always looking out for non UK versions of Series 3a/3c/3mx, and already have a few for the 3a/3mx but only a UK version of the 3c. Get in touch if you have any. 012
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 04/07/2025A few months ago I started work on emulating the Psion Series 7. The machine starts to boot and confirms I have the palette and screen rendering implemented correctly, but still lots more work required to understand the hardware. 031
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 03/07/2025Also have almost an original of Debug and Copy-All, shared purchase with friend and have one of the authorised 'backups'. 010
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 03/07/2025Here's a preview of something coming soon to MAME! 131
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 03/07/2025I don't have many originals in my collection, but this was definitely a worthwhile purchase! 110
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 30/06/2025You probably already own more CEFUCOM assets than anyone else on the planet! 010
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 18/06/2025A disk image that'll boot without any input would at least let me know if the rest of the emulation is good. 110
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 17/06/2025Had a look at my TripleX notes and now reminded that keyboard/mouse emulation is stuck without someone dumping the internal ROM from keyboard 8749 MCU :( 100
Nigel Barnes @pernod70.bsky.social · 17/06/2025I have the 'portable' image, so if I can emulate the mouse to acknowledge the 'Icon file corrupted' then it should boot? 210
