I took a beginner whitewater Kayak class. I’m not interested in whitewater per se, but it was available in my location at this time. And beginner is usually foundations. It was bad. But, I can now evaluate Internet info and know the importance of certain skills. So, I built a practice pole.

Practice kayak pole build from aluminum shower curtain rod. Painters tape marks midpoint and grip points. Black tape marks where paddles will start. Used to self-teach forward stroke form from videos.

Part of the problem with my kitty’s chemotherapy pill is that it sticks on her tongue. Oral steroids right after is unpleasant, but the pill goes down. 2.5 ml of cat safe tuna water syringed into her mouth is hilarious. She struggles and sputters against this…delicious…wait…and she swallows

We’ve been going since Thanksgiving and she’s so fat and sassy now. We’re going on vacation and our pet sitter mentioned that she has clients have been doing this for years, which is nice to hear. The vet was more conservative.

It has been suggested that tiptree is female, a theory I find absurd, for there is to me something ineluctably masculine about Tiptree’s writing. I don’t think the novels of Jane Austen could have been written by a man nor the stories of Ernest Hemingway by a woman, and in the same way, I believe that the author of the James Tip tree stories is male.

I have cleaning schedules and lists…that go unused. So, meeting myself where I’m at, and inspired by Finch Users, I made a Strategy. Each weekday has an action. House areas are on a 9-day cycle. Each day, I go to the area and find something that needs the action: Wipe … bathroom = clean the sink

I’ve beaten insomnia but am left with revenge sleep procrastination. Framing staying up as “stealing hours from my weekend” feels healthy but not motivating, so I’m making it physical. Going to sleep by 12:30 am earns me up to 3.5 hours to *go do something* regardless of how busy I am.

Today, the brain HQ exercise was facial recognition. For most exercises, I get 4 stars in the first round then 5 stars in the second round. Today, we see what face blindness looks like. However, I learned some new ways of thinking about the 3 dimensionality of faces.

This was fun and challenging. The patterns and shapes were complex enough that it was possible to misplace some of the pieces (even edges) so I had to backtrack and correct several times.

My whole house is neurospicy, so snack food that’s put away gets lost. Hence these narrow shelves for a nook in the dining room. Night and day in terms of snack turnover. Also my middle schooler grabbed a jerky stick literally on her way out the door to school today and that’s a win.

My eyes get really dry, so I need a warm compress about every two-ish weeks. These disposable eye masks heat on their own and are just about perfect. These ones are infused with wormwood.
