DJT economics: - Paying for anything is bad (you lose money) - Selling things is good (you get money) - Borrowing is good (you get money) - But high interest is bad (see #1) No concept of a fair trade or win-win.

I just read his earlier book 'The Fifth Risk' on the non-transition know-nothings of the 45 admin. So infuriating how this regime operates.

Palmer sold his Oculus Rift VR setup to Facebook in 2014, and made a good chunk of money - a small portion of that was given to a pro-Trump group in 2016, and he has since given to many Republicans.

Newton also wrote one about the South winning the Civil War battle at Gettysburg.

Newton has written quite a few books - including one called '1945' - an "alternate history" book where the U.S. only fought Japan (i.e. did not fight Nazi Germany).

Newton is 83 years old, Elon 55, Palmer 34. Three generations of dudes pulling off the public teat. I suspect Palmer's Anduril defense tech co. will come out all right from this special project.

I suspect they've all read a bit too much science fiction.

Remember that news about how weirdos Elon, Palmer and Newt will be figuring out the future of warfare or something?

Picked up a copy of Ingeborg Bachmann's 'Malina' last month for a train ride out of Zürich. Here's a recent piece on Tom McCarthy's look at Bachmann.

The Structures That Make Violence Legible | Los Angeles Review of Books
Tom McCarthy’s critical study of postwar Austrian writer Ingeborg Bachmann shows a deep sensitivity to form.

I found it was rare for 'management' to really know who are the high-performing devs. I doubt it's gotten any easier now with AI in the mix. But for sure generating a lot of code is a pretty bad metric of quality.

Sam Altman's malicious hacking collective keeps doing malicious hacking things. "We don't have the legal tools to stop this unprecedented hacking," wail officials who very much do have the tools. www.ft.com/content/1150...

It’s kind of neat to compare the donor and trustee reaction to some students holding signs that say “stop the genocide” with their reaction to the tenured former Bush official responsible for widespread torture advocate for firing squads.

The jackals are out, as they usually are for a woman who speaks up in a way that challenges patriarchy. (And a lot of why victims don't come forward or withdraw--as a Weinstein victim did--is because the misogynist public and legal system launch their own punitive assaults.)

Between Schmitt and Leavitt's 360 it was a real banner day for the GOP braintrust.

Agree - the texts on the posterboard were very generic, wasn't clear at all why they thought it was damning on its own. Schmitt and co. assumed their way into the story, and you know what that does...

Belatedly reading Michael Lewis's book 'The Fifth Risk' on DJT's first admin and their incredibly incompetent know-it-all attitudes toward government. Frightening, and obviously the second term is even worse.
