Got an email form @letterboxd.social about some films in my watchlist hitting Prime and the posters are pleasingly similar
A screenshot of an email showing the poster’s for Meek’s Cutoff and Rogue Male. Both have a person on the right hand side pointing a long-barreled gun to the left, with the title appearing just below halfway down.

Made my favourite pasta earlier (roast chicken and juices, garlic, parsley, cream, onions lightly browned in chicken fat and butter) which meant disassembling the weekend’s chicken carcass, which is very difficult to do with the intensity of Bird’s focus on you

Also apart from one minor blip (nothing in ‘87, two in ‘88) this could have all been Harrison Ford films and you’d think it was fine. Ten films in ten years and somehow the worst reviewed one is Working Girl, which is obviously magnificent

Fun Fact: You’ll know if you have a first edition of Busman’s Honeymoon because it’ll contain an erratum slip, which corrects the frankly unforgivable error of Lord Peter Wimsey being a bit wrong about wine.

We’ve watched ludicrous 1997 film The Edge, in which Anthony Hopkins and Alex Baldwin are stranded in the wilderness and manage to kill a bear with sharpened sticks. In the next scene, maybe a day later, they are seen wearing the skin of the bear they killed.

VINDICATION
A screenshot from The Guardian that says “This article was amended on 23 July 2026. An earlier version described the Japanese macaque Punch as having been orphaned in Ikea; in fact, this description conflated Punch with Darwin, a macaque who was found in a Canadian Ikea in 2012.”

I have once again had to submit a correction to The Guardian because one of their frivolous nonsense articles got a fact wrong, this time about the nature of the popular meme monkeys that live in our hearts.
Dear Editors,

I am writing with a correction to your recent article 'Who is Jimothy? Seven things you need to know about the internet’s favourite raccoon' at https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2026/jul/22/who-is-jimothy-seven-things-you-need-to-know-about-the-internets-favourite-raccoon.

Early on includes the article includes the sentence:
'Punch the Japanese macaque orphaned in Ikea is so February.'

However, Punch the Japanese macaque was neither orphaned nor in Ikea. He was born at the Itchikawa City Zoo in Japan and abandoned by his mother. The Ikea association is because his keepers gave him a stuffed ourang-outang toy from Ikea to cling to as a surrogate mother, see the WIkipedia entry on Punch and its sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch_(monkey)

I suspect you are conflating Punch with Japanese macaque with Darwin the Japanese macaque, who was found in a Canadian Ikea store in 2012 wearing a particularly stylish coat: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin_(monkey)
