there was a beauty to the jank in games (even AAA) that died after the PS2/GC/DC era when every game was expected to be patched post launch—we all were 100% conditioned to the fact that every single game we bought would have esoteric and unique controls

i kinda hard miss this era before systems were always online and games required multiple patches post launch—there is a beautifully artistic messiness to games (even AAA) up to GC/Ps2/DC that was gone afterward

Hilariously enough the slow mounting tension BR brings is also why I am even more afraid to see it, my anxious and photographic mind can imagine 99 ways the worst possible thing could happen in a scene, so I also had my friends "spoil" it in its entirety which helps me immensely.

The thing with CD is that its world is packed with weirder and more obtuse puzzles than Zelda (complimentary) and although Elden Ring has a dense large map, 85% of all that density is just combat. There is almost tooo much to do in CD and with each update they continue to polish the pearl abyss.

cant stop playing the game, I dont agree with all your complaints but 100% agree on our mutual love of cutting trees, the ways the game swings big, and even though some of its clunk its the most fun Ive had with a games world since BoTW in 2017 and Elden Ring in 2022--both great games.
