Not only is he (Jackson) wrong - but he knows he is wrong. He contradicts himself more than once. He is playing a part (for whatever reason - his own financial reasons - political reasons). A part that he knows is wrong because he contradicts himself.

Thank you. We need someone fighting our corner. It took years to find an unbiased GP (But I’ve moved away from that city now). I‘ve trauma from previous GPs. I‘m dreading trying to find one for when i can’t avoid going. Occasionally there is a ray of light doctor - i always cry from relief.

Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

No one needs it. it causes malnutrition in everyone. It is the food that needs change, not the quantity. The biggest fix we need would be to reverse the metabolic changes that dieting cause - once you’ve cut calories for a while, it is impossible to return to the previous metabolic state.

Note that in the same week, a LGBTQ+ nightclub was burned down in an arson attack. Not a word about that, no comment on the rising tide of homophobia and bigotry responsible for that. Because the goal is to ban the protests that are politically damaging to government, not to help anyone.

Depends on the group? Though maybe you mean badly implemented by fb? I’m in a couple of stand out excellent groups that i can’t imagine coping without. They are so well run. It’s a bit of a magic place for how much i have learnt in it. It’s like a secret weapon against chronic illness!

I would love to, but I‘m heavily dependent on the health groups. I’d need to access them elsewhere too to help me manage my health. I keep ending up spending far too much time on there. Despite my best intentions. Thank goodness for my addiction to puzzles too that helps limit it a bit.

Sorry to burden you with another jaw-dropping scandal. But what the government intends to do to chemicals regulation in the UK is chilling. Its consultation was slipped out so quietly that most of us missed it. When I read it, I saw why. This week's column: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I wish it wasn’t my experience. The numbers with chronic illness are increasing (it’s a polluted world). Many of us with multiple food sensitivities. Plants protect themselves with oxalates, salicylates, lectins etc. i can’t eat most of them. I wish I could. I’m increasingly not uncommon.

Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
It never claimed to be scientific. It is my experience. I’ve met lots of short term vegans, but more longer term vegetarians who have managed to make it work (they need eggs). And ex vegans who needed to add in fish too. However a lot who haven’t made it work, with chronic illness. I am one of them.

Unfortunately a plant based diet isn’t a viable option for many of us. Many of us with chronic illnesses are forced to eat less and less plants. It’s a growing problem, especially post covid.

Lab grown meat is not proved to be a viable option yet. It has not yet proven itself. And given what it is grown from, I worry many people with issues like mine will react to it as much as any vegetable. I hooe it can prove itself in time.
000
Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
And whether that was a factor in developing illness, needing to cut out increasing numbers of groups of veg (eg oxalates, nightshades, lectins) due to becoming sensitive to them is a growing problem amongst the chronically ill.
010
Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
Unfortunately due to increasing numbers of the chronically ill, there are increasing numbers of those who have to eat meat. Large numbers of us who used to be vegetarian and /or vegan. There’s a health cost to being veggie or vegan for many of us. Unfortunately.

We need to start addressing the chemical, nutritional and health care based damage we are doing to ourselves if we want these kinds of environmental solutions to work.
100
Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
A LOT of us have experienced these issues. And whilst a small number of us do better with vegetarian solutions, far more of us have found the reverse, and been forced to give up that life style. And there are more and more of us.
100
Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
I’m not convinced of it’s practical application. Spend some time hanging out amongst the large numbers of the chronically ill (which I know you have a little, thanks to your brilliant support for ME patients)…

Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
I know a lot experienced increased good health at first, as they tend to cook from scratch more (though there are more and more fast vegan foods on the shelves now). So whilst the idea of a vegetarian population (for climate change) is a lovely one

Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
Meanwhile, large numbers of these ill people are ex vegetarians and vegans (like me). I’ve never met a long term vegan who kept their good health (I am sure they exist, but I strongly suspect there are far more who have to change their diet due to health issues, in time.

Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
Apologies, you, not he! It’s a lot more complex, basically. Large numbers of people have increasing numbers of food allergies, due to gut damage from antibiotics and preservatives and other things. Many of them rely on meat to survive. And once they do, they tend to eat far less.
300
Percy Pocket @percypocket.bsky.social · 02/04/2025
Some of this makes sense, some misses the point. Eg A LOT of people have dairy allergies. But many of them are fine with raw milk. He has done what he accused others of - dug down into critiquing things, without digging down into why people are doing them. Which invalidates more than one point.
