You know when someone in cinema grins and the light reflects off their tooth with a "ting"? The weird thing *isn't* that reflected light should be completely silent. The weird thing is that we have accepted it so much that if film-makers ever omitted it, it would make the whole scene seem wrong.

I remember the "Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive" arcs from a few years back. They were collected into TPBs and I bought them. Turns out the killer was some character acting out a grudge from some comic years before, who hadn't been mentioned in any of the TPBs before the reveal.
