She’s adorable and still really only a kitten - just over 6 months.

I loved this story, though I had to change the format it was written in because the highlighted bits were nigh on unreadable in the original. But I’m already feeling guilty about things I may or may not have done!

They do indeed! Serves me right for calling my cat Astrophe, really - I got what I deserved from the name! (She also purrs the moment she’s within stroking distance of a human in the knowledge someone will indeed stroke her and she’ll like it, which is adorable.)

This week, Astrophe has knocked my laptop onto a hard tile floor, knocked over a full bin of rubbish - several times - jumping in and out of it, necessitating us buying a bin with a lid, tripped Mr Penn, and climbed son’s leg with claws. She’s so cute when she’s sleeping, though. #Cats #Photography

White kitten curled up asleep. It’s a close up so only her face and front leg and paw and tail are really in view. She is snuggled down on her side with her head resting against her tail. The backdrop is a multicoloured duvet cover, mostly green with yellow patterns.

A picture of a boat coming into Penzance harbour, with a purely accidental capture of the sun in partial eclipse on the bar between the promenade and the sea…

Most of the photo is sea or sky, with the land in the background in the middle being Penzance reaching out into Newlyn. There is a large boat (the ferry?) coming in towards the harbour. Across the bottom of the picture is a metal bar, and a short way from the right end, there is a crescent shaped bright yellow sun spot, which is where the sun, shining in eclipse, is hitting the barrier.

Congratulations! You've stumbled across the lucky Spoonbill! 👀 This is very rare. Lucky Spoonbill says: "May all your endeavours succeed". 📷 @deaneades333.bsky.social

A close-up of a Eurasian Spoonbill with bright white plumage and its distinctive spoon-shaped bill slightly open, making it look as though it's offering a friendly greeting. Calm blue water fills the background.

These eyes? Ares wanted to know what I was doing with my iPad!

Close up of cat face staring into the camera. His eyes are looking right at you, and his nose seems to be almost touching the camera.

The stare off… No, Asty and Ares are actually just chilling in the catio, this photo just caught them when they were looking at each other rather than anywhere else. #CatPhotos #cats #photography

White kitten sitting up stares at Toyger lying down on separate parts of a purpose built catio. Behind the wire, green plants (non specific) are growing.

#Lamorna in #Cornwall - featuring a random pirate ship*, because why not? #CornwallPhotos #Photography #seascapes *if it’s not, it looks like it

Flat blue sea, with old fashioned looking two masted ship to the right of the picture, tugging a tiny boat behind it. To the left of the picture are rocky outcroppings of land, and if you squint you can see another stretch of land behind them. There’s also someone swimming in the very very foreground. Not me, though I did swim earlier.

Omg, I think I would freak if someone tried to sleep on my face, furry or otherwise! My friend has a blind cat; she finds it very weird to come round here and watch my cats just being able to see where theyre going, and being able to move furniture without worrying about the cat walking into it!

Someone is very sleeeepy and had a long morning in the sun in the catio. #cats #CatPhotos

White kitten stretched out towards camera so that there is a good view of her front paws and long front legs, with her sleeping head resting on them, while the rest of her body disappears into a duvet cover with flowers and plants on it. She has grey paws and ears, and you can just see her grey tail in the background. The duvet cover is mainly green.

Son’s allergies are notably much worse now he goes away to uni and comes back than they were when he lived with our cats full time. Not a lot to be done about that, unfortunately.

Astrophe has taken rather firmly to my son, who will willingly take allergy tablets every day in order to cuddle with the #kitten. #CatPhotos #cats

White kitten flomped out fast asleep on top of a human, between their body and arm, she is lying sideways at her head end but twisted so she is almost in her back at her back legs end, in an incredibly inelegant fashion. At the same time, her front paw is stretched out just a little bit in front of her looking ridiculously cute.

It’s tough waking up in the morning if you’re a small kitten (or a considerably larger adult, but the photos aren’t so cute then). #cats #CatPhotos

I did look into adopting a rescue Siamese but there didn’t seem to be any young (under three) ones around, and then my spouse’s fencing 🤺 friend had kittens that she only lets go to very particular homes so it seemed like it was meant to be.

Penelope Friday (they/them) @penthewriter.bsky.social · 09/06/2026

Yes, Asty has more of a British shorthair head shape. My previous cats have all had pointier faces - I had a Tonkinese in the past - so I have to admit that to me Asty’s face does look a little “squished” and I’m trying to get used to it :) (Comparison pic of Asty and Ares [toyger])

White kitten and Toyger cat touching noses to say hello. They are standing on a bed (well, the kitten is standing and the cat is sitting down, which is why the kitten looks taller).

Interesting photo of a burrowing owlet I snapped the other day. The light was going through his eyeball and makes almost a perfect five-point star on the right. So cool!🪶

So beautiful ❤️ Do you know, I almost said, “she’ll also lick your nose if you’re really lucky…”? Does it make your mouth tingle when yours does that or is it a weird autism thing i have? Despite Asty’s looks, she’s officially a moggy, unlike her adoptive brother who’s a Toyger.

Toyger cat with brown and black stripes looking just past the camera. He is sitting down with his paws tucked neatly under his body. There is a hand petting him from a person in the background.

Penelope Friday (they/them) @penthewriter.bsky.social · 08/06/2026

If you could hear Astrophe, you’d usually hear her purring if she’s anywhere near a person. The idea that she might get petted is enough to have her purring, and actually petting is very pleasing. You may get your fingers licked in return.

White kitten with her eyes mostly closed in the “I am purring contentedly” way, curled up on a black duvet cover. She has a black nose and grey ears, paws, and tail.

Asty was very cuddly this morning, though she wasn’t at all sure about the camera.

White kitten with very black nose looking suspiciously at the camera. She is sitting atop a white nonbinary person, parts of whose face you can see behind her own. They have their hand on her back, scritching her.

Definitely friends, they had a brief grooming session after, but it’s difficult to take decent pictures of that, especially from about a foot away…

This is now a place for pictures of my new kitten. For Reasons.

A white cat with grey ears, paws, tail, and nose about to leap off the side of a bed. Her head is down and her tail is pointing up in the air. You can see the shoulder of a white person wearing a white top (but the pillow behind them is brown and so is the back of the bed so there are some different colours in there).

I can haz new kitten. This is Asty (sorry, Astrophe Épée), and yesterday she was not at all pleased to be here and hid in a corner. Today, however, she wanted to purr and play.

This is her friend-to-be, Ares. He is rather like Tigger: will bounce at you and not understand why you might not be pleased. I’m worried that he may find that if he’s been hissed at for it, it may mean Asty isn’t therefore willing to curl up with him later, as Zula did.

Sleepy stripy brown cat curled up with his head on his front leg, paw sticking out in front of himself.
