I put in 30+ hours for the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World demo so far. Mostly figuring out as many monster combinations as possible before transferring my top 8 at launch. Hunter Mech, Cannibox, Dessert Demon, Urnexpected, Gold Golem, Napir, Hellbound Horror, and Warhog are my line-up.

Grinding the new Dragon Quest Monsters demo to get my boy, Hunter Mech, to prepare for the transfer on Dec 3rd at launch. You need a Restless Armor and an Avian Android to create a Hunter Mech. Gold Golem is the combination of Pocus Poppet and Jargon. You're welcome. (Updated from previous post)

I will say that Alex in SF6 has re-piqued my interest in playing fighting games again, but my time investment will remain a fraction of what it once was. Due to expanding on my personal life and values. But, yeah, I'm having fun, despite the story butchering that capcom did to my favorite character🫠

"But J" you ask "we already covered Final Fantasy 4" yes, but we covered a gussied up version of the game. We need to cover what Americans would know the game as back when it hit the states, warts and all. This [FRI @ 5PM EST] its time for Final Fantasy 2 US www.youtube.com/@IdolismJ

I did Cyclops from Xmen this year for Halloween. This was the most challenging costume to put together yet. I'm very proud of how well this all came together. Wiring the visor to light up with a pushbutton was the funnest part during this over 2 month project😎

After taking a backseat from fighting games for a while, I'm fine with never competing in a major event again. RPGs and personal projects have filled the void while mitigating stress. I still enjoy playing FGs with people, but casually now. There are more important places to grow in life is all.

I can't believe I have slept on the Gaogaigar anime for so long. Highly highly highly recommend giving this series a watch. I'm only 10 episodes in, but you can see so many similarities that Gurren Lagann adopted from Gaogaigar. One of the peak 90s hype giant robot anime for sure.

I put together the Going Merry model from One Piece the other day. It was a birthday gift from my brother a little while ago. A bit of a pain to put together, but I am satisfied. Might replace the stickers with paint at some point.

I played Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster while work was slow last night. Using the x4 multiplier for EXP, Gil, and Job Class points, I beat the game fully within a little over 8 hours. Extra time is from working on the bestiary. The Ikari Warriors team completely bypassed job gimmick boss fights🤌

Made some trades to get these classics CIB. Ikari Warriors II, Mega Man 6, and (of course) Super Mario Bros. 3. These take me back to the Super Kmart and KB Toys days of my childhood.

A little Alex throwback from our old locals. I miss this character so much. SFV was something. Not for everyone, but meant a lot to some people who played it competitively and for fun back then.

000

penknight.bsky.social @penknight.bsky.social · 08/06/2025

I hope Alex becomes the best grappler in SF6 like he did in V. Just a solid mid tier character after starting from the bottom of bottom tiers. Spring 2026 cannot come soon enough. It took little convincing myself to pick up this character. Never looked back after making the choice 8 years ago💪

010

penknight.bsky.social @penknight.bsky.social · 31/05/2025

No more Leona in KOFXV. She's my favorite character, but she takes so much more effort compared to Heidern. Also looked into comparisons between XIV and XV in gameplay. If XVI were to take the best mechanics of both games, it would be most solid modern KOF. There are some changes that need to go

000

penknight.bsky.social @penknight.bsky.social · 30/05/2025

I miss playing my original King of Fighters team. Lately, I've got an itch to boot back up KOFXV. I think watching tournament matches again has reignited my interest and memories of that game. It's the one game that made me feel like a gremlin with the characters I played.

The Toledo Local this past Saturday playing CotW sets was fun. No care about wins. Just having fun and learning. It had been a while since I had a good time at a local. I'm hopeful that people will stick with the new Fatal Fury, despite some of the creative choices made for that game.

000

penknight.bsky.social @penknight.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

My biggest gripe with Tizoc is he doesn't have a lot of answers when it comes to dealing with pressure, unless you lab guard cancel punishes. I think it'll be a major problem online, since guard cancel has a small window. Dropped frames will ruin that form of defense, but it's too early to tell.

My new PC build was completed last night. A friend pointed out that it looks like Canti from Fooly Cooly, which makes this even cooler to me. I did not even think about that when buying the tower😭🤌

Parts added were the Ryzen 9900x, new motherboard, 1000 watt PSU, 64 GBS RAM, Corsair liquid cooling, and Thermaltake 300 tower. Already had the 4060Ti in the previous build from a year ago

Kain will take some time getting used to in City of the Wolves, but he's very fun to figure out. Having a pocket setplay(?) character like him would balance out me using Tizoc as a main. I am looking for diversity this time around when it comes to a new fighting game of interest. This is the one🤌
