it's basically one of the many alternate platforms to bluesky that can host accounts and store your own data. accounts on northsky (or blacksky, eurosky, etc) can post on bluesky, but the accounts themselves are not hosted on a bluesky server.

UPDATE: on the blacksky appview, my main can see my alt and vice versa, however my main can't see you, shows up as "blocked" and your profile shows as you blocking me. but, i can see other northsky and blacksky accounts just fine wonder if it's a list you're subscribed to..
