Just finished reading Thubron's THE AMUR RIVER; BETWEEN RUSSIA AND CHINA, which I rationed 1 section at a time. Reading it was deeply enriched by having read your superb world-enlarging TIGERS BETWEEN EMPIRES. Next I need to reread both books.

I’ve seen this pattern many times. You write a nuanced thread about a complex issue. The first responses are thoughtful and interesting. Then someone on another forum extracts a sentence and deliberately misinterprets it. Then your timeline is flooded by trolls all saying exactly the same thing.

Have never seen one who wasn't in more-even-than-a-chickadee motion. The one time I was near a ruby-crowned who paused was when one landed on my head (I do my best to resemble a shrub when out in the woods). This is a great photograph, captures their beautiful readiness
