52 new books have been banned in Belarus. The list also included the book by Darota Michaluk “The Belarusian People’s Republic, 1918–1920: At the Origins of Belarusian Statehood.” Books on Belarusian history whose content does not align with the regime’s Russia-oriented policy are often banned.

PEN Belarus took part in the preparation of a report to the United Nations on Belarus’s compliance with its human rights obligations. Out of the 266 recommendations received by Belarus, 155 were accepted in some form. Of these, only 2 (1.3%) have been fully implemented, and 24 (15.5%) — partially.
