Sunday Game day! Today is Armello, based on the video game of the same name. It’s always silly to me when they make a digital board game and then an analog version of it, but much like Slay the Spire (analog) it is very much it’s own thing and is VERY good!

After much waiting, i was finally able to play one of my most anticipated board games from @kidstablebg.bsky.social, Lairs. I have a lot of bias towards the publisher and one of the designers but I am always ready to be critical of a game. This game has already far exceeded my expectations.

I traveled to whitehorse, vancouver and red deer over the last 8 days for a mix of personal and professional reasons. It was mostly rewarding, very tiring and kept me away from work that needs doing. But when i got back to the store I found this and it reminded me why i get up and fight every day.

I appreciate this. I get that there is a physiological explanation as to why Witchers are male from the perspective of the novels, but in a world of magic and monsters, let’s leave space for representation and personal expression. When I run this game players can make Witchers of any sex/gender.

First game of the day was Age of Galaxy 2E. This is what I think i wanted Imperial Settlers to be. Very snappy abstracted 4X game that felt really strategic. I normally don’t like the “manage your entire game with only 7 cards” genre but this one was a hit.
