This is an interesting take on what advanced mathematics as a practice is about. I’m not sure I buy that AI solving math is bad. Perhaps mathematicians just need to change the incentive structure from prioritizing solutions to prioritizing explanations.

I think this is right. This project was creating a pipeline for something I had partially coded and partially did manually. It still required a lot of correction and troubleshooting, but now I have an automated process that will save a lot of time.

Women and children must die so men can get a hard on is a Trump administration policy.
A screenshot of a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user Eric Katz (@EricM_Katz), which quotes a post by Paige W. Cunningham (@pw_cunningham).
The post text reads:
"👀 In canceling the maternal and infant mortality grants, HHS said those issues were no longer a priority for the office and grants would instead focus on 'low sperm count, low testosterone levels and erectile dysfunction.' 👇"
The quoted post by Paige W. Cunningham reads:
"Scoop: HHS's Office of Minority Health has cancelled 16 grants, several focused on maternal/infant health, telling grantees it's pivoting to a focus on the root causes of infertility and promoting exercise. with @EricM_Katz notus.org/health-science..."

Doctors say that measles can kill young children. A guy who snorts cocaine off toilet seats and drives around with dead bear cubs in his car says they'll be fine as long as they eat enough beef tallow. For busy parents, it can be hard to know who to trust.

Abdul El-Sayed on capitalism: “I’m capitalist who just knows about capitalism. I have a bad habit of reading, I’m so sorry.”
We’ve spoken about capitalism versus socialism.

Do you want to talk about capitalism? Let’s talk about capitalism. Are you recording? Capitalism is about leveraging the laws of supply and demand to efficiently allocate capital expenditure to maximize value. When capitalism works, it’s because you have free entry and exit into markets. So if you believe in capitalism, you have to believe in government regulation to protect markets. In fact, right now, we have exactly the opposite. You don’t have to be a socialist to believe that you should be taxing billionaires their wealth. In fact, if you are a capitalist, you should believe in that. So, I’m capitalist who just knows about capitalism. I have a bad habit of reading, I’m so sorry.

No, it doesn’t. “Who has more material goods” is a straightforward question. That doesn’t necessarily mean you should optimize for material gain at all costs, but you can readily figure out who is richer.

Agree with @jamellebouie.net that it's pretty clear Elon Musk wanted to eviscerate USAID *for the purpose of killing as many African people as possible.* Mass death wasn't an accidental byproduct of his "deep state" paranoia; it was a key mission of DOGE. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/29/o...
One might even see his destruction of the United States Agency for International Development — responsible, so far, for an estimated 700,000 deaths worldwide — as consistent with his concern with falling white birthrates relative to those in places such as sub-Saharan Africa, where U.S.A.I.D. was active. After all, one way to secure a future for Western children, in this zero-sum view of the world, would be to starve African ones.
