PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 17/03/2026Between IWD 2025–2026, nearly 1 in 5 women killed by men in the UK were suspected to have been killed by their own sons. Child-to-parent abuse is often hidden. We must include it in domestic abuse and VAWG strategies. Stand with us. Give a voice to the voiceless. #DomesticAbuseAwareness 011

PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 20/02/2026Parent blaming culture is a huge barrier for families seeking support. We need to listen, validate and support families without judgement. We're always thankful for the professionals who stand alongside us and are part of the change that's needed💜 000
PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 18/02/2026In fact our 2025 PEGS report on adult children found that 77% of those displaying abusive behaviours had not experienced domestic abuse in childhood. This shows us clearly that CPA isn’t always about what’s been 'learnt' and that parents are not to blame for the behaviours they’re experiencing. 000

PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 08/01/2026We’ve been using CPA (Child to Parent Abuse) since launching our services in 2020. To ensure we were reflecting the voices of those most impacted , we asked PEGS’ parents the same question... and over 90% said CPA is the term they prefer. 000

PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 16/12/2025Just as with any form of domestic abuse, Child to Parent Abuse (CPA) can have a significant impact on other children in the home regardless of their relationship to the child displaying the behaviours. 000
PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 16/12/2025Our Vision A world where: Child to Parent Abuse is empathetically and effectively responded to by professionals. Parents are listened to, believed and empowered. Organisations develop best-practice, policies and upskill front-line staff. 000

PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 18/11/2025Experts estimate that at least 3% of homes in the UK are impacted, that’s around 870,000 families. Many incidents of CPA go unreported. Parents may feel fear, shame or worry that they won’t be believed all of which can make reaching out for support feel impossible. 000

PEGS @pegsupport.bsky.social · 12/11/2025This often comes alongside coercive and controlling behaviours and gaslighting, which we hear about frequently at PEGS. For many parents, this form of abuse can be so intense that it damages family relationships, friendships and even marriages for some. 000
